The District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators Association of the Philippines – MIMAROPA Chapter conducted their first meeting for 2021 held last 23 March via Zoom application which was facilitated by the National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA. It was attended by the officers and other members of D/CNPCs in the region.

03 2021 16 Calapan

Calapan City – The Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) composed of NNC MIMAROPA staff Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ms. Ma. Eileen B. Blanco, Nutrition Officer III Ms. Maria Camille Louise C. Chen, Nutrition Officer I Ms. Nichole Kate S. Loyola and RNET members DOLE representative, Mr. Fulbert Paul W. Pukias (onsite) and NEDA representative Ms. Chara Lois T. Eje (online), provided technical assistance on Nutrition Program Implementation to LGU Calapan City on 1-3 March 2021, scrupulously adhering to the minimum public safety protocols.

12 PROMO

National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA and its local media group, Palawan, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Occidental Mindoro Nutrition Communicators (PROMO Nutri Com) held its first meeting for the year on 15 March 2021 via Zoom Application. The virtual meeting was presided by NPC Ma. Eileen Blanco and attended by 12 participants composed of officers and members of PROMO Nutri Com.

The meeting aimed to share the 2020 Nutrition Situation of the region, discuss the 2020 accomplishments of the local media group, review its commitments to the Regional Plan of Action on Nutrition (RPAN) 2019-2022 and present the proposed 2021 local media work plan.

03 2021 14 World TB day

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the common grave assumptions of people when seeing an individual coughing sporadically was afflicted with tuberculosis. In the present, while everyone was focusing on the COVID-19 virus, tuberculosis is still out there spreading behind the curtain of COVID-19.

Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis that mainly attacks the lungs or may affect in other parts of the body. An individual may be infected with TB when they inhaled an infected person’s cough or air droplets from sneeze and spit.

03 2021 FBNS

The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA conducted the First Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (FBNSs) of Region IV-B held on 18^th of March 2021, 9:00 AM via Zoom Application. It aimed to discuss the following: Sharing of Good Practices and Experiences by BNSs during COVID-19 Response, 2020 Regional Nutrition Situation, NNC Memorandum 2020-010 and Updates on e-OPT Tool, President and Treasurer’s Report, Guidelines on BNS Assistance Requests, 2021 Proposed Plans and Activities and other matters which include Election of New Officers, FBNS Advocacy Shirt and By Laws and Constitution of the association.

03 2021 Rabies Awareness

The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA Region joins in the observance of 2021 Rabies Awareness Month pursuant to Executive Order No. 84, s. 1999. Annually, the month of March is acknowledged as Rabies Awareness Month effective 13 March 1999.
