MELLPI in ZamboangaThe National Nutrition Council, as the highest policy-making and coordinating body for nutrition monitors and appraises the progress of the implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) at various levels. This is done using various monitoring activities such as mid-term assessment at the national level, annual program implementation review, and Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) at regional and LGU levels.

The Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro is designed to monitor and evaluate the performance of local government units (LGUs) and Local Nutrition Focal Points (LNFPs) in promoting nutrition security visà-vis nutrition outcomes. Results of the MELLPI Pro aim to guide policy and decision makers to enhance nutrition products, services, and delivery systems towards improved effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability.

OnionsWhen you cut an onion, your eyes may begin to burn and tears may fall down your face. The tears you shed while chopping onions are not the result of any emotion. They are reflex tears caused by irritant exposure. Onions are bulbs that mature underground. They have a defense mechanism that protects them from hungry animals as they grow. When the skin of an onion is broken, it exudes enzymes and sulfenic acid. When these compounds react, they form propanethial S-oxide, an irritant gas.

Tattoo during pregPeople acquire tattoos for a number of reasons, including as a method of self-expression, for religious or artistic reasons, to remember a loved one who has passed away, or to consecrate a unique bond. Tattoos featuring children or pictures of expanding families are popular among new parents. If you're a new, breastfeeding mom and you might be thinking of getting a tattoo of your adorable child, or perhaps you've simply reached a place in your life where getting the tattoo is your dream. In either case, you are unsure about the safety of having a tattoo while you are still nursing your infant. The issue of getting a tattoo while nursing has not garnered much study. There is disagreement among experts; some believe it should be avoided until after you have finished breastfeeding, while others advise waiting until your child is older. Still others believe getting a tattoo is probably not a problem. All medical professionals believe that if you get a tattoo while nursing, you should take precautions and speak with a doctor or midwife first.

MastitisMastitis is a relatively common breast condition among women. It is an infection of the tissue of the breast that occurs most frequently during the breastfeeding period. It can occur when bacteria, often from the baby's mouth, enter a milk duct through a crack in the nipple. Breast infections most commonly occur one to three months after the delivery of a baby, but they can occur in women who have not recently delivered and in women after menopause. Other causes of infection include chronic mastitis and a rare form of cancer called inflammatory carcinoma. Women who have diabetes, chronic illness, AIDS, or an impaired immune system are more prone to this condition. Engorgement and incomplete breast emptying can also contribute to the problem and can worsen the symptoms.

RPAN PIRHunger and malnutrition remain to be a challenge for continued economic development and population growth of the world. In the Philippines, study results and official statistics showed that malnutrition remains to be a persistent public health concern in the country. Through the years, there have been slow reductions in the prevalence of stunting from 33.8% in 2003 to 29.5% in 2018-2019. The country still has a lot of work to do to ensure that effective and sustainable actions will be done to meet the 2025 World Health Assembly (WHA) Global Nutrition Targets and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The year 2022 marks the last year of Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2017-2022. The coming new administration also heralds a new development planning cycle. Thus, to keep abreast of the strategies and actions that should be done, Nutrition Action Plans for 2023-2028 must be formulated at the national, regional, and local levels.

Low HFAChildren's nutrition has an impact on their survival, cognitive growth, and long-term health. Limited linear growth is the result of inadequate nutrition and infections. Low height-for-age, or stunted growth, describes a child who is short for his or her age but not necessarily thin. This poses a risk to long-term developmental outcomes and is also referred to as chronic malnutrition. Low height for age, often known as stunting, is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in newborns and young children and is a sign of general nutritional condition.
