NiE IM

The first Live Open forum for e-learning Course on Nutrition in Emergencies and Information Management (NiE-IM which started November 10 and will run until December 8.

There are 40 participants composed of Provincial Health Officers, DRRM Officers, CSWD Officers, and Agriculturists from provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, Negros Occidental. Also participating were representatives from La Carlota City, Passi City, Carles and Miag-ao.

The course aims to provide proper nutrition management and strategies in times of disaster and public health emergencies. Further, it seeks to enhance the knowledge and skills of the participants on nutrition in emergencies and information management.

The training is being conducted through blended learning which uses a synchronous and asynchronous mode of learning. During the offline sessions, participants have the option to choose their most convenient time within the allotted time frame to log-in and study at the Google Classroom.

NAOs Conference 2

Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs) from all over the country participated in the 6th National Conference of Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs) through a 4-part webinar series scheduled October 1, 8, 15, & 22 October 2020.

AIP Workshop

Amid the challenges of the "new normal,” the National Nutrition Council VI and the local government units have embarked on mainstreaming nutrition programs in the Annual Investment Plans of these LGUs.

Previously, the workshops held last October 6-9, were supposed to be follow up sessions done earlier this year, but COVID19 put a hold on these.

Joint Fed Meeting

The P/CNAOs, D/CNPCs and the BNS Federation Presidents held their joint meeting recently, with Ms. Sheryl Sedantes, NO III, Officer-in-charge of the National Nutrition Council VI.

This is the first time for Ms. Sedantes to interact with the federation presidents as OIC, after the retirement of RNPC Nona Tad-y.

The group tackled the following during the meeting: Status of submission: OPT Plus Report 2020, Inventory of Height Boards and Weighing Scales, Nutrition in Emergencies-Information Management (NIE-IM) Virtual Training, Local Nutrition Program Management (LNPM) Training, and Remaining activities for 2020.

NO III, OIC Sheryl C. Sedantes paticipated in the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Joint-Assessment Consultation Series (Philippines) held October 21, 23, and 26 via Zoom. The activity aimed to assess the Philippines’ progress along the four processes of the SUN Movement from April 2019 to April 2020 and identify country priorities for 2020 to 2021.

Specifically, the assessment workshop aimed to:

1. Collectively identify major achievements in nutrition coordination around the four processes that are deemed necessary for an enabling environment; 2. Clarify challenges, opportunities, and identify priorities for the coming year; 3. Foster discussions and exchange among the nutrition stakeholders with a view of nurturing and catalyzing further collaboration throughout the year; and 4. Provide an opportunity for each stakeholder group to present their contributions towards achievements in nutrition coordination, give feedback and hold each other to account, as well as stimulate greater engagement from key partners.
