National Nutrition Council – Region VI joins in the celebration of World Obesity Day (March 4, 2021) through the hanging of streamer and participated in the 3-part Webinar Dissemination Forum of Results of Studies on Overweight and Obesity via Zoom. The webinar is organized by NNC, together with UNICEF and the Nutrition Center of the Philippines, to present local research studies to increase awareness and knowledge on the extent of overnutrition in the Philippines as well as share good practices in addressing malnutrition.

National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region VI conducted the 1st Quarter Joint Meeting of Provincial/City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (P/C/MNAOs), District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators (D/CNPCs), and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) Presidents last February 10, 2021, via Zoom. The meeting was attended by NAOs, D/CNPCs, and BNS Presidents coming from different provinces and cities in the Region.

The Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program covered areas in Negros Occidental gathered on 13 January 2021 via Zoom to discuss updates on the procurement, distribution, and delivery schedule of Dry Ration Supplementary Feeding(Nutribun) to the identified nutritionally at-risk Pregnant Women. The meeting was presided by NO III, OIC Sheryl C. Sedantes, and attended by the Provincial/City/Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, District/City/Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators, NDDPs of Negros Occidental, and NNC RVI Staff.

The University of San Agustin Student Government of USA Iloilo in partnership with the Nutrition-Dietetics Council organized an event called Fridays @ USA Healthy Talks. It is a weekly activity held every Friday via an online platform to provide students additional information and updates on various topics and to give students a short break from their academics. In each segment, distinctive individuals were invited to discuss topics that are relevant to the identified issues and concerns of the USASG, especially concerning the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Nutrition Council-Region VI joined the nation in the observance of Goiter Awareness Week (GAW). Presidential Proclamation 1188 signed on December 11, 2006, declared every 4th week of January as Goiter Awareness Week to increase public awareness on the prevention and control of Goiter and other Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDD).
