MAASIN CITY - NNC8 headed by Dr.Catalino P. Dotollo Jr. together with his staff PNFP Limbagan attended the 1st City Nutrition Committee (CNC) Meeting of Maasin City.
Officers and Representatives from DILG, City Health Office (CHU 1 & 3), PDOHO, CDRRMO, Office of the City Agriculture(OCAG), City Budget Office, DepEd, CPDO, CSWDO, Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS), Maasin BNS President, SJC and PIA attended the meeting.
Agenda of the meeting: (1) Re-organization of City Nutrition Committee for yr.2022; (2) Presentation of Budget 2022; (3) Updates on Nutritional Status of Pre-Schoolers and School Children; (4) Accomplishment Report of each member agency; (5) Awards and Recognition; (6) Reorientation and Nutrition Program Updates by RNPC Dotollo.

PALO, Leyte - For the past years, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) has never failed to recognize efforts of the nutrition workers across the country. More importantly in this difficult times, where the Covid-19 pandemic has compromised and deteriorated the nutrition of the most vulnerable, demanding more attention and effort from our hardworking nutrition workers for continued services on the ground.
For the second time since the start of the global health crisis, the NNC Eastern Visayas has successfully conducted the Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony under the new normal, recognizing top-performing Local Government Units and nutrition focal points in the region.
The annual ceremony was held at Hotel Alejandro in Tacloban City on December 29, 2021.
Present during the activity were members of the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Committee (RNET), recipient LGUs and nutrition focal points, and the NNC regional office staff.
For 2021, the Green Banner Seal of Compliance were awarded to the towns of Hinunangan, Padre Burgos, St. Bernard, Barugo, Hilongos, Baybay City, Isabel, Mayorga, La Paz, Hindang, and Capoocan.
Awarded as the City Outstanding Brgy. Nutrition Scholars were Ms. Riza C. Garcia of Tacloban City, Ms. Elvira Ruloma of Calbayog City, and Ms. Rositaa Acsibar of Maasin City.
In the provincial level, awarded as the most outstanding BNS are Ms. Lydia C. Nunez of Samar and Ms. Angielita A. Relente of Leyte.
Honored as the Regional Outstanding BNS was Ms. Rosita S. Acsibar, Regional Local Nutrition Program Coordinator of the Year was given to Michelle Marie O. Siega also from Maasin City, while the Regional Local Nutrition Action Officer of the was awarded to MNAO Edward F. Lora.

PALO, Leyte - While nutriskwela radio stations in Eastern Visayas did not bagged in various categories of awards during the 5th Nutriskwela National Conference because of COVID 19 pandemic, two of them got the top post in the recently concluded election of Board of Trustees.
Station Manager Marvin Morallos of Radyo Kabulig in San Policarpo, Eastern Samar was voted Chairperson of the Nutriskwela Radio Broadcasters Association (NRBA). Likewise, Station Manager Dr. Rothelia Maria Ugsad of Radyo Kausbawan stationed at Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT), Palompon, Leyte was also voted as the NRBA’s Public Information Officer. Both are voted from among the Board of Trustees.

The blood is a medium by which nutrients, waste materials, and other substances such as hormones travel, like interconnected super highway of the human body.

1. Eat lots of fiber and reduce intake of high fat and high cholesterol foods!
Cholesterol and fat are important to the body, but too much is bad! They can result both to obesity and a condition called atherosclerosis wherein plaques build up in the arteries leading to high blood or hypertension and eventually heart problems! Fiber can help in the control of cholesterol levels and also promote satiety which helps in the management of weight.
