24 September 2013—The Nutriskwela Radio Kabinnulig in ASIST, Lagangilang, Abra which is one among the 25 nutriskwela community radio station of the National Nutrition Council in the country is now on its fullest airing of their nutrition advocacies.
As per interview with Mr. Elizier Lazo, one of the radio announcers, during a surprise visit conducted by the National Nutrition Council-CAR spearheaded by OIC- Nutrition Program Coordinator Ma. Eileen Bringas- Blanco, he said that the radio is now strictly following the daily programs formulated by the Community Radio Council.
Per initial signal mapping conducted by the monitoring group on the following day of visit, the air wave of the said radio can be clearly heard as far as the Municipality of Pidigan and some parts of the Municipality of Bangued, Abra.
On the other hand during the NNC-PNC Consultative Meeting conducted at the Dietary Hall of the Abra Provincial Hospital last September 25, 2013, OIC Blanco also encouraged members of the Provincial Nutrition Committee to make use of the radio station in promoting their programs and activities.

Bangued, Abra—Governor and Chairperson of the Provincial Nutrition Committee of Abra, Eustaquio “Takit” Bersamin granted the request of OIC-RNPC Ma. Eileen P. Bringas-Blanco and Provincial Nutrition Action Officer, Dr. Leona G. Berona regarding the provision of a provincial nutrition office with staff during a visit last September 25, 2013.
Having the highest Malnutrition Prevalence Rate in the Cordillera Region, Gov. Bersamin assured that the provincial government will work on improving the nutritional status of malnourished children in the province.
On the other hand, OIC Blanco committed the support of the NNC to help the province in improving its nutrition situation considering that four among its 27 municipalities were included to the top 100 most nutritionally depressed municipalities in the country based on the Operation Timbang result.

14 October 2013—The nutrition implementers from the different sectors in the City Government of Baguio proclaimed to support the promotion of the Revised Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos as pronounced by the Secretary to the Mayor- Atty. Rafael Tallukoy in his message during the launching of the Revised NGF at Azalea Residences, Baguio City.
Ms. Ma. Eileen B. Blanco, OIC- Nutrition Program Coordinator of NNC-CAR, said that the revised guidelines will guide each one towards optimal health and nutrition if these will be put into practice. She also encouraged the delegates during the event especially the BNSs to intensify their advocacy and promotion of good nutrition in their barangays to help eradicate malnutrition in their respective area since Baguio City is facing a double burden of malnutrition especially among the school children.
Other activities of the event were inter-school NGF quiz bee participated by six known performing secondary schools in the city and detailed discussion of the revised nutritional guidelines.

BANGUED, Abra, Oct. 11 (PIA) -- The National Nutrition Council-Cordillera Administrative Region (NNC-CAR) and the Provincial Nutrition Council (PNC) recognized the Most Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) of Abra during the launching of the Revised Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos (NGF) last October 3, at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall here.
Ms. Eileen Bringas-Blanco, OIC NNC-CAR Director, commended Ms. Rhezzy Balbin, BNS of Penarrubia, for her extraordinary efforts and commitment in performing her duties to fight the high prevalence of malnutrition in her area .She also urged others to emulate Balbin.
Balbin thanked Municipal Nutrition Action Officer, Antonio Japson, and the Municipal Nutrition Council of Penarrubia chaired by Municipal Mayor Geraldine M. Balbuena as she shared her experience. “It is not easy to conduct home visits in the different barangays because some parents are reluctant to disturb their children during unholy hours to measure their height and weight. But when you are really into it and when you are determined to attain your goal of reducing malnutrition in the province, all becomes a second thought’, she said.

Lagawe, Ifugao—Nutrition stakeholders in Ifugao committed to promote the Revised Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos (NGF) and good nutrition during the conduct of the provincial launching of the Revised NGF for the Province of Ifugao on October 17, 2013 organized by the National Nutrition Council-CAR in coordination with the nutrition office of the said province.
Dr. Mary Jo P. Dulawan, the Provincial Health Officer and Provincial Nutrition Action Officer, said in her discussion of the provincial nutrition situation that nutrition is everybody’s concern and each one should practice, advocate and promote good nutrition as well as initiate the implementation of nutrition interventions because addressing nutrition concern is a holistic approach and needs convergence of efforts. She congratulated all the delegates from the different municipalities for the continuous reduction of malnutrition in the province. Furthermore, she encouraged them to sustain their support to the nutrition programs as these are the bottom-line in attaining a good quality of life.
Moreover, the regional nutrition situation and the messages of the Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos were presented followed by the nutri-games and NGF quiz bee which was actively participated by the delegates.

LAGAWE, Ifugao Oct. 14 (PIA) - - Community nutrition providers here are expanding their medium for information education to now include the radio.
In partnership with the Philippine Information Agency- Ifugao Information Center, the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) are set to conduct their own radio program at the Nutriskwela Community Radio FM 99.1 Radyo Kiphodan. The program will formally start on October 16.
According to BNS Veronica Adviento, President of the Ifugao provincial BNS federation, the radio program dubbed “BNS Hour” will air from 9:00-10:00AM every Wednesday with selected BNSs of the 20 barangays of the municipality invited to discuss their activities in a rotation basis.
“This program will act as a venue for BNS in the different barangays of the municipality to inform the public about the programs and activities they are conducting in the community,” said Adviento who will be the anchor of the program.
Adviento hopes that through the radio program, the people will appreciate more the efforts of Barangay Nutrition Scholars in addressing the nutritional needs of children in the community. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR,Ifugao)
