The Malabon City Nutrition Committee launched “Usapang Bawas Taba Tungo sa Malusog na Bata” as an innovative strategy in reducing the problem of overweight and obesity among preschool children in all 21 barangays of the city.
The activity facilitated by the City Nutrition Office and City Social Welfare and Development Office, aims to promote healthy weight among preschool children by engaging them in regular physical activity and making them understand the importance of eating healthy meals.

Partners from non-government organizations (NGO) in the National Capital Region committed to scale-up nutrition actions in the region by investing in the First 100 Days of life. The commitment of the NGO partners was generated during the 6th Regional NGO Forum organized by the National Nutrition Council – NCR (NNC-NCR) last December 03, 2019 at the Red Hotel Cubao, Quezon City.
The NGO forum, with the theme “Strengthening GO NGO Partnership for Nutrition Actions in Metro Manila” was conducted to strengthen GO-NGO partnerships for nutrition actions in the region, update the participants on the nutrition situation, and intensify multisectoral actions to prevent stunting.

The City/District Nutrition Program Coordinators (C/DNPC) of Metro Manila Association, Inc., in cooperation with the National Nutrition Council – NCR conducted their 34th Annual Regional Conference with the theme “Holistic Nutrition for a Healthier You” on November 27, 2019 at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel, Sta. Cruz, Manila.
The conference aimed to provide the participants updates on nutrition-related trends and information focusing on achieving optimal health and wellness through the principals of holistic nutrition. It was attended by 126 C/DNPCs together with guests and participants from the local government units and hospitals.

The members of the Regional Nutrition Management Group (RNMG) of NCR and selected nutrition action officers, nutritionist-dietitians and barangay nutrition scholars met on November 28, 2019 for a program implementation review (PIR) to assess the first-year implementation of the Regional Plan of Action for Nutrition (RPAN) 2019-2022 of the National Capital Region. The PIR aims to determine the progress of the RPAN implementation and the necessary adjustments needed to meet the targets and objectives by 2022.
The RPAN is the response of the Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) to the nutrition challenges in the region. The local government units (LGUs), being key implementers, are mandated to deliver nutrition and nutrition-related services and are expected to translate the PPAN into local nutrition action plans to be able to implement nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive programs in the communities.

The Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) of NCR, Inc. in partnership with the National Nutrition Council-NCR held its 2019 Barangay Nutrition Scholars' Regional Conference with the theme, "Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng Mag-Nanay...push natin 'to!" at the Grand Ballroom of the Century Park Hotel, Manila on November 22, 2019. Three hundred forty-four (344) BNSs from the seventeen (17) local government units in Metro Manila attended the event. This year’s conference focused on the First 1000 Days of life.
The conference was graced by Taguig City Councilor for Health Pammy Zamora representing Taguig City 2nd District Congresswoman Lani Cayetano as the keynote speaker. She acknowledged with gratitude all the BNSs in Metro Manila for their invaluable service as frontline nutrition workers in the barangays.

The National Nutrition Council – NCR (NNC-NCR) together with the local government units in Metro Manila plans to maximize the use of multimedia platforms together with interpersonal communication for the 2020 nutrition media campaign.
A program implementation review of the local media campaign was held last November 29, 2019 at the Robbinsdale Hotel, Quezon City to assess the 2019 media campaign at the regional and local levels. It was attended by local nutrition program coordinators from the ten (10) LGUs namely Quezon City, Muntinlupa, Pateros, Las Pinas, Makati, Taguig, San Juan, Mandaluyong, Navotas, and Valenzuela. Chair of the regional media group, NCR Nutrition Communication Resource Group (NCR2), Mr. Marvin Capco (PIO-Mandaluyong City) and members Ms. Lucia Brono (PIA-NCR) and Dr. Shari L. Sabalvaro (IYCF Coordinator-Mandaluyong City) were also present.
