July 17, 2019-The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Regional Office 1 (BJMP-ROI) conducted the 2nd Regional Chef Olympics Competition at the BJMP-ROI Compound, Parian, City of San Fernando, La Union as part of the 2019 Nutrition Month Celebration. The said event was participated by the city, district and municipal jails from all over the region.
The event started with an orientation of the participants on the mechanics of the competition. The contestants were given the opportunity to do the marketing of the food commodities they will be using at the City Wet Market. The preparation and cooking started at around 7 in the morning followed by the evaluation and judging by the member of the board of judges.
Participants were tasked to prepare delicious and nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner for persons deprived of liberty (PDL) in the region with the budget of P70.00 per person per day.

The National Nutrition Council Region 1 and its media organization partner in nutrition promotion (Regional Organization of Nutrition Development Advocates in Region 1 or RONDA1 Inc.) recently met with National Nutrition Council Region 8 and its media organization counterpart - Harmonized Initiatives of Media for the Spread of Good Nutrition in Region 8) HIMSoG8 in Tacloban City for the conduct of a local media plan program implementation review (PIR) and technical exchange visit.
The three-day activity included a visit to Palo- Palompon, Nutriskwela Community Radio Station, Radyo Kausbawan, interview with Palompon Mayor Myra Georgina Arevalo and Technical Exchange between RONDA1 and HIMSoG8.
NNC RO1 Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ma. Eileen Bringas-Blanco expressed her gratitude to NNC RO8 led by Dr. Catalino Dotollo Jr., Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator of Region 8, and HIMSoG8 led by DYOG Radyo Pilipinas Calbayog Station Manager and HIMSoG8 President Antonio C. Pueblos for hosting the technical exchange program in their area.

San Fernando City, La Union—The National Nutrition Council- Regional Office I in coordination once again with the Department of Education- Regional Office I to hold the Nutri-Jingle Video Contest Season 2 as part of this year’s Nutrition Month Celebration with the theme: “Kumain nang wasto at maging aktibo…push natin ‘to!”
This contest will be participated by secondary schools, public or private, from the fourteen (14) DepEd- Division Offices in the region with 2 schools representing each division office.
Entries are expected to be posted at the NNC-ROI’s regional webpage (www.facebook.com/nncregion1) on July 1, 2019 and posting is expected to end on July 30, 2019.
The criteria for judging will be the following: Originality (20%), Choreography (15%), Relevance to the theme (20%), Number of Likes (15%), Number of Shares (15%) and Number of Views (15%) with a total of 100%.

The Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) enjoins other National Government Agencies, institutions, the academe, and other developmental partners in the celebration of the World Population Day (WPD) 2019. It will be celebrated on July 11 with the global theme of “25 years of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).
WPD, which seeks to focus the attention on the urgency and importance of population issues, was established by the then Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989, an outgrowth of the interest generated by the Day of the Five Billion, which was observed on July 11, 1987.

17 June 2019—Two (2) employees of the National Nutrition Council- Regional Office I received their recognitions as among the long service awardees of NNC during its 45th Anniversary Weeklong Celebration held at Caliraya Club Resort, Lumban, Laguna conferred by NNC’s Officer In-Charge and Executive Director III, Dr. Azucena Dayanghirang and NNC’s Administrative Division Chief, Ms. Chona Fernandez.
Ms. Ma. Eileen B. Blanco, Nutrition Program Coordinator of NNC-Regional Office I was awarded for rendering 25 years of service in the agency.
She first served as Nutrition Officer II of the Nutrition Policy and Planning Division of NNC before transferring at NNC- Region IV as Nutrition Officer III.
She was then appointed as Officer In-Charge of NNC-CaLaBaRZon and MiMaRoPa Region in 2011 and as Officer In-Charge of NNC- Cordillera Administrative Region in 2013.

VIGAN CITY, July 4 (Anne Hazel F. Flores, PIA1) -- To promote this year’s Nutrition Month celebration, the National Nutrition Council Regional Office 1 (NNC-1), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur and the City Government of Vigan, led the kick-off ceremony on July 1, here.
This year’s theme: “Kumain nang wasto at maging aktibo…Push natin ‘to” gathered more than 500 participants from partner regional line agencies, non-government organizations, media practitioners, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and the private sector.
At 6 a.m., the nutrition advocates gathered at the famous historical Calle Crisologo to participate in the Zumba exercise simultaneous with the Fun Bike and the Wheelchair Race, dubbed as: “I-daan sa Galaw!”
Bike enthusiasts and PWDs passed the different routes around the city proper which started in front of the Vigan City Hall and the Vigan Central School, respectively.
“The city government together with our partners extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended this event and who made its success possible despite the inclement weather we are experiencing,” said Vigan Mayor Juan Carlo Medina.
