Sitio LongosAlaminos City, Pangasinan -- Ang pag-angat ng isang komunidad ay makikita sa kung paano umunlad ang mga mamamayan na nasa laylayan nito. Ito ang isang realidad na aking napagtanto sa aking pag-iikot sa mga bayan na kabilang sa programang “Early Childhood Care and Development in the First 1000 Days (ECCD-F1K)”.

Sa pakikipagtulungan nina CNAO Virginia Francisco, Aquaculturist Gelbert Rabadon, presidente ng BNS Federation Officers Linda Dizon, Kapitan Joffrey Enriquez at BNS Dory Enriquez, kami ay nagtungo sa Sitio Longos, Barangay Pangapisan, Alaminos City noong May 18, 2017 para tignan ang kalagayan ng mga napiling benepisyaryo ng Food Production Project ng programang ECCD-F1K. Sa pagsisimula ng implementasyon ng programa, napagtuunang pansin ang Sitio Longos sa Barangay Pangapisan dahil sa mataas na bilang ng mga batang bansot. 

pacoyCity of San Fernando, La Union- The Provincial Government of La Union spearheaded the conduct of this year’s nutrition congress last May 16, 2017 at Diego Silang Hall, Provincial Capitol, City of San Fernando, La Union with the theme “Panagdadanggay: Agri-Turismo, Naragragsak ken Nasalun-at nga La Union, Magun-od Tayo!”

The congress aims to orient nutrition stakeholders on the vision of the new administration and to give nutrition updates among the nutrition program managers and frontliners from its nineteen (19) municipalities and one (1) city. This was attended by more than 100 participants composed of nutrition action officers, barangay nutrition scholars, barangay health workers and other partners.

Governor Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III graced the activity. He commended the participants for the continued service to the people and barangays of La Union.

“We all Love La Union- everything we do is for the Love of La Union,” he said.

His administration is known for the tagline I Love La Union with the vision transform La Union to become the Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon.

Health Secretary and NNC Governing Board Chair Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial along with other GB members led the ceremonial turn-over of PPAN 20177-2022 to Iloilo Province represented by Governor and Chair of the Provincial Nutrition Committee Arthur D. Defensor, Sr. This turn-over was symbolic of the services provided under the PPAN. Iloilo province is one of the 38 priority areas of PPAN identified because of the large numbers of stunted children.

Assistant Secretary of Health and NNC Executive Director Maria-Bernardita T. Flores presented the PPAN 2017-2022. In her message, she expressed hope that the new plan of action will be embraced, not only by nutrition implementers, but most especially by the Filipino people.

Mayor Michael Carleone Cruz, local chief executive of the municipality of Umingan, together with the members of the municipal nutrition committee (MNC) and barangay nutrition scholars received the fund for Early Childhood Care and Development in the First 1000 Days (ECCD F1K) Program last May 2, 2017 at the Sangguniang Bayan Hall, Municipal Hall, Umingan, Pangasinan. The check worth Php 4, 130, 118.00 will be used for nutrition activities targeting households with pregnant women, lactating mothers and children aged 0-23 months. Umingan, Pangasinan – “Marami sana kaming gustong gawin na nutrition activities pero wala kaming pundo.” (We have so many plans for nutrition activities but we do not have enough funds) said Cresilda Oria, new MNAO of Umingan LGU.

The check worth Php 4, 130, 118.00 will be used for nutrition activities targeting households with pregnant women, lactating mothers and children aged 0-23 months.

The municipality had reported 192 malnourished children in 2015. According to the Regional Council for the Welfare of Children under Department of Social Welfare and Development Region I, the LGU had recorded actual number of twelve (12) deaths among children below five years old in 2014 and fourteen (14) deaths in 2015 due to health and nutrition concerns.

 Alaminos City -- City Administrator Dr. Emielou Gellado, together with the city nutrition committee (CNC), financial committee and BNS Federation Officers of Alaminos City, Pangasinan received the cheque amounting to Php 2, 838, 118.00 for activities on Early Childhood Care and Development in the First 1000 Days (ECCD-F1K) Program. CNAO Virginia Francisco initially presented the city’s nutrition situation and current activities being conducted such as consolidation of OPT Plus results, supplementary feeding, therapeutic feeding for beneficiaries with severe malnutrition, supplemental feeding for senior citizens and PWDs. On the other hand, PNC Andreissa Fae Ranchez presented the program’s work and financial plan for 2017, guidelines for implementation of nutrition education classes, community and home food production and specials events while Mr. Gelbert Rabadon, City Aquaculturist presented the approved food production project focusing on duck raising.
