8 September 2015- The city of Sta. Rosa was again awarded the Green Banner award during the 2015 Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (RNAC) at the Hotel Jen Manila, Pasay City. The annual awarding ceremony was done to recognize exemplary performance on nutrition from the local government units and local nutrition workers all over the region.
The ceremony was attended by more than 200 participants from different LGUs in the Calabarzon region including their local chief executives, SP/SB Members; Barangay Chairmen; Provincial/City/Municipal Action Officers (P/C/MNAOs); District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators (D/CNPCs); Regional Technical Working Group (RTWG) and the Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars in Region IV-A (FBNS IV-A) Inc. The member of the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) and Communicators’ Network for Nutrition in Region IV-A (CNN 4A) also attended the awarding as well as the officers and board of Directors of different government agencies.

30 July 2015 – In line with the 41st Nutrition Month celebration with a theme “Timbang iwasto sa tamang nutrisyon at ehersisyo!”, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Calabarzon and Mimaropa regions joined forces as they gathered nutrition stakeholders for the 2015 Nutrition Month Stakeholders’ Forum focused on obesity held at the Greenhills Elan Hotel, San Juan City.
Various specialists were invited to share their expertise in the forum. Ms. Luz B. Tagunicar of the National Center for Health Promotion of the Department of Health reported the State of Overnutrition in the Philippines and the actions being done by the government to address it. Meanwhile, Dr. Cesar J. Tutaan of Mandaluyong City shared the video of their city’s activity which was recognized as the Guinness World Record’s Largest Zumba Class to inspire the participants to conduct nutrition programs that deal with overnutrition. To further strengthen the promotion of engaging to physical activities, Mr. Hercules P. Callanta from University of the Philippines Diliman also stressed physical fitness and exercise. The session was ended by Ms. Zenaida Velasco from the University of Santo Tomas by imparting tips on stress and weight management.
Each session was followed by an open forum in which the participants were able to ask questions and share insights.
All the topics in the forum not only allowed the participants gain knowledge on obesity prevention but also ignited their advocacy for proper nutrition and further prevent the rising double burden of malnutrition in the country.

To ensure the integration of nutrition considerations in sectoral programs, the National Nutrition Council Regional Office IV-A attended the meeting of the Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children-Technical Working Group (RSCWC-TWG) on 30 September 2011, held at the Home of Joy Orphanage, Jabez Christian School Compound, Dasmariñas City, Cavite. The meeting was convened to arrange the activities to be done during the conduct of the launch of the Regional Children's Month Celebration on 21 October 2011, at Barangay Sta. Inez, Tanay, Rizal, with the theme: Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) Para sa Bright Child: Palakasin, Pakilusin, Pagtulungan Natin.

14 August 2015 – Twenty seven (27) city/municipal nutrition action officers, district/city nutrition program coordinators, nutrition officers, nutritionist-dietitians, nutrition staff, and members of the regional nutrition evaluation team from Calabarzon region and 10 from Mimaropa Region successfully completed the week – long Training on Nutrition Program Management conducted by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Calabarzon and Mimaropa on 10 -14 August 2015 ¬at the Greenhills Elan Hotel, San Juan City.
The training was composed of several discussions and exercises that tackled various concepts on Nutrition Program Management including the core values and required skills of a nutrition worker and NPM’s integration in local governance and development system. The modules and sessions were facilitated by Ms. Aleli Catalina Y. Jimenez, City Nutrition Action Officer (CNAO) of Calamba City, Ms. Marietta D. Dogelio, City Nutrition Program Coordinator (CNPC) of Tagaytay City, Ms.Norine D. Dacula, Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO) of Oriental Mindoro, and Mr. Mark Angelo R. Lorenzo, Regional Nutritionist of DSWD Mimaropa.
Each participant created their re-entry plan which they will be implementing upon return in their respective areas. NNC will also do monitoring of the actions taken by the participants after the training.
To formally close the program, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator, Carina Z. Santiago also shared her hope that all of the newly trained participants will become effective nutrition program managers so that together with their LGUs and other stakeholders in their area will be able to contribute to the attainment of food and nutrition security for all Filipinos.

As one of the identified places in the non-Accelerated Hunger Mitigation Program (AHMP) Priority Areas in CALABARZON Region, the City of Calamba conducted Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Training for Midwives and Nurses at El Cielito Inn, Sta. Rosa City, last 11-14 October 2011. This was initiated by Ms. Aleli Catalina Y. Jimenez, City Nutrition Action Officer of Calamba in coordination with the local government unit (LGU).
Ms. Ma. Eileen B. Blanco, OIC-Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator of National Nutrition Council Regional Office IV and Ms. Belinda C.Beltran, Nutrition Officer II, served as the facilitators and resource speakers during the training sessions.

28 August 2015 – A new batch of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) trainers were certified by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Calabarzon upon completing the five – day Training of Trainers on the Basic Course for Barangay Nutrition Scholars held on August 24 – 28, 2015 at the Greenhills Elan Hotel, San Juan City. Twenty seven nutrition stakeholders composed of city/municipal nutrition action officers, district/city nutrition program coordinators, nutrition officers and nutrition staff from the five provinces in Calabarzon region received their certificate of completion.
The participants were taught with five modules comprised of topics from the legal basis and rationale for the implementation of the BNS program, introduction to nutrition and malnutrition, roles and functions of BNSs, BNS program in the overall local development system, and duties and responsibilities of BNSs in the context of Nutrition Program Management (NPM). These modules comprised of group exercises, games, discussions, role plays and demonstrations were facilitated by the certified BNS trainers and supervisors namely City Nutrition Program Coordinator Marietta G. Dogelio of Tagaytay City, District Nutrition Program Coordinator Emma Coronado of Quezon Province, and Municipal Nutrition Action Officer of Boac, Marinduque.Maria Luisa Ligsa.
In her message during the closing ceremony of the said training, RNPC Carina Z. Santiago extended her gratitude to all the participants for allotting time and their respective local chief executives (LCEs) for allowing them to attend the training. She then shared her wish to produce more outstanding BNSs from the Calabarzon region through the help of the new trainers.
