rizal province The Rizal Provincial Health Office in coordination with the Center for Health Development CALABARZON and National Nutrition Council Regional Office IV, conducted a training on the World Health Organization-Child Growth Standards for Public Health Nurses, Rural Health Midwives and Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, last November 16-18, 2011 at Villa Cristina Resort, Antipolo City.

There were 34 representatives from 13 municipalities of Rizal and Antipolo City were present during the training. The short opening program, the introduction and overview of the Child Growth Standards (CGS) were facilitated by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) staff.

In order to recognize the local government units and individuals in CALABARZON and MIMAROPA regions who had exemplary performances in the field of nutrition for the past year, the Joint Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony for CALABARZON and MIMAROPA was held at La Breza Tower Suites, Quezon City last December 2, 2011.

Awards, banners and certificates were given to the finalist and the winners of the Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS), Best Barangay Nutrition Scholar Performer and Best Local Government Unit Performer at the city and provincial levels in the two regions.

tmbldg In line with its efforts to produce a more energized, inspired, and efficient staff who will be responsible for coordinating the nutrition program in the region, NNC Calabarzon conducted its first-ever Team Building Activity on December 20 and 21, 2012. The activity, which also aimed to enhance the group’s ability to work closely together as a team, involved a wide range of activities starting from the challenging physical and mental activities at The Forest Club in Bay, Laguna. There the group performed various tasks meant to help foster self confidence, trust, teamwork, and overcoming one’s fears such as climbing and trekking the 500-meter Canopy Walk (14-feet high hanging bridge); and the rope bridge that crosses a lagoon; obstacle courses; the Web Challenge; and other ice breaking activities.

cnn oathtaking The Executive Officers and Board of Directors of the newly organized local media group – the Communicators' Network for Nutrition in Region IV-A (CNN-4A) took their oath of office on 4 December 2012 at the Hotel H2O in Luneta, Manila.

Regional Sub-Committee on Nutrition (RSCN) Chair and DOH-CHD IV-A Director Dr. Edgardo M. Gonzaga officiated the induction of the media group. The elected executive officers and board of directors are the information officers from the provinces and cities in Calabarzon, Local Radio Station Managers and the practicing media.

calamba pgn After the simultaneous PGN trainings for the city/municipal implementers done by the NNC regional office during the last quarter of 2012, CNAO Aleli Catalina Y. Jimenez conducted the first batch of PGN barangay training roll-out in Calamba City.

The training was held last 7-11 January 2013 at the Conference Room of the City Nutrition Building of Calamba. A total of 26 participants composed of Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), Barangay Health Workers (BHW), Midwives, Barangay Councilors on Health and a BCPC Coordinator attended the training. Facilitators include Regional IYCF Coordinator from DOH-CHD IV-A, Dr. Gloria A. Narvaez; N.O. II Ms. Lourdes B. Bulante from NNC-CALABARZON and CNAO Jimenez. The group had their hospital practicum at the J. P. Rizal District Hospital and community practicum at Barangay Pansol.

fbns naos 27 December 2012 – a joint P/CNAOs and FBNS IV-A Inc. 4th quarter meeting was held at the Conference Room, CHD IV-A Bldg., Project 4, Quezon City. The meeting was attended by the Nutrition Action Officers (NAOs) from various provinces and cities of CALABARZON and the regional BNS federation officers and board members, Dr. Ephraim Rubiano of Agham Party List and NNC CALABARZON headed by RNPC Carina Z. Santiago and staff.

FBNS IV-A Inc. President Ms. Karen C. Ballonado of Tagaytay City led in the discussion on significant organizational concerns that need to be settled before the year ends including the proposed ammendments of the FBNS, Inc. Constitution and by-laws, proposed benefits of federation members; committee structure, and plans for the conduct of the FBNS IV-A Inc. team building in January 2013 and the 1st Regional BNS Congress in July 2013.
