The National Nutrition Council conducted the face-to-face Regional Nutrition Program Implementation Review last October 28, 2022, in Cinco Niñas, Koronadal City.
This annual activity aims to assess the implementation, progress, and development of the nutrition program and to promote learning and adaptable behavior to enhance performance. It also serves as an avenue to determine constraints in program implementation and strategies to manage and address it for efficient and effective RPAN implementation.

The Regional Bantay Asin Task Force (RBATF) of SOCCSKSARGEN held its second meeting of the year 2022 on October 24, 2022, at the Villa Amor Hotel in Koronadal City.
The meeting was held to evaluate and assess the progress and situation of salt iodization, its implementation, and monitoring in the region.

Fad diets are all over the social media and internet nowadays. Some Nutrition Guro claims that a specific diet would be helpful in weight loss. Some also, would try and recommend Ketogenic Diet for faster weight loss.
The fact that more people are embracing this trend because they find it to be effective while ignoring the negative long-term effects makes, this issue particularly pertinent today.
The DAR Sarangani province held a nutrition and food safety orientation as part of their month's culmination activity to address this FAD diet trend in their organization. Katty T. Parreño, Development Management Officer II from the National Nutrition Council XII, served as the resource speaker at the gathering via online platform. The discussion centered on how Filipinos' diets were changing due to Western influences, and it also addressed concerns about FAD diets.

The National Nutrition Council (NNC) XII visited the municipalities of Tampakan and Tboli, South Cotabato for a monitoring visits and coordination meeting in line with the implementation of Local Nutrition Early Warning System toward Food and Nutrition Security (LNEWS-FNS) last October 27 and 28, respectively.
The said activity was attended by the Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (MNAOs), Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) of the sentinel Barangays and LNEWS core group members.
The activity aims to ensure the program's sustainability by validating LNEWS-FNS results, discussing local issues and concerns related to its activities, and identifying gaps as well as the specific interventions.
In addition, DMOII Utlang oriented the BNSs on the plans for the household survey, guidelines on interviewing, roles, and functions of BNSs and further explained the details of the household survey tool.

Barangay nutrition scholars are the backbone of nutrition. They serve as front liners for nutrition and nutrition-sensitive programs. BNS shall play a huge role in the upcoming implementation of Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program (TKDSP) in the region.
An orientation was conducted to barangay nutrition scholars of the barangays that were identified as the beneficiaries of the Tutok Kainan Dietary Supplementation Program. The orientation is crucial for the BNS to fully grasp the objective, management, and administration of the program and its components.
During the orientation, DMO II Parreno shared that NNC shall provide load allowance to the BNS during the six months of project implementation for ease in the electronic reporting system and monitoring.
The Local government unit of Glan Sarangani hopes to implement the Tutok Kainan Dietary supplementation program with all stakeholders’ support.

The province of South Cotabato held a three-day Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) Program Implementation Review and Congress on October 19-21, 2022, at Susan's Beach Resort in Maasim, Sarangani Province. The congress was attended by all BNSs of 10 municipalities in the province and Koronadal City.
The three-day event was jam-packed with various activities both technical sessions, social activities, and physical and spiritual nourishment for the Barangay Nutrition Scholars. The said activity is also an avenue to recognize and appreciate their contribution to the province in efficiently implementing nutrition programs and combating the progression of malnutrition and to give them a moment of respite. Without their selfless effort and altruism, the nutrition program at the barangay level would be infeasible and ineffective, according to the perspective of the province.
Retsebeth M. Laquihon, RND, MPD, MDM, the Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator of National Nutrition Council XII, graced the aforementioned events and provide an update on BNS Programs, PPAN 2023-2028, and the eligibility and TESDA certification they can obtain.
