As the city government grapples with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, it sees to it that nutrition programs do not take a back seat in local governance.
The launching of the community kitchen program in Barangay Rajah Muda earlier today manifested the continuing efforts of the local government unit of Tacurong City to bring to the forefront programs aiming to reduce prevalence of malnutrition, especially stunting ang wasting among children.
City Nutrition Action Officer Rogelio Garcia said that Rajah Muda was chosen as the pilot area of the kitchen program after being identified as barangay with high prevalence of malnutrition, specifically undernourished children.

DIGITAL POSTER

In line with the 2020 Nutrition Month Celebration in July, the National Nutrition Council 12 spearheads its first ever Digital Poster Making Contest. The contest is open to all individuals across the region depicting the 46th Nutrition Month Theme, “Batang Pinoy SANA TALL... iwas stunting, SAMA ALL! Iwas ALL din sa COVID-19!”. The contest also aims to engage everyone’s thoughts and to raise awareness for the impact of stunting through creativity.

MLANG PIC FINAL MLANG, COTABATO—The Municipality of Mlang launched a 120-day Home quarantine milk feeding program last June 8, 2020 for 24-59 months old children prioritizing 10 barangays (Bagontapay, Dungo-an, Inas, La Fortuna, Magallon Malayan, New Antique, New Barbaza, New Consolacion and Pulang Lupa) with high malnutrition rate.

Approved Barangay Nutrition Action Plans

What a way to usher in the Nutrition Month Celebration!

All twenty barangays of Tacurong City are scaling up their nutrition programs by formulating their respective Barangay Nutrition Action Plans (BNAP) and have them approved by their respective Barangay Nutrition Councils (BNC).

In a simple program on June 30, the punong barangays, as head of their BNCs, presented their BNAPs before the members of the City Nutrition Council chaired by Mayor Angelo ‘Roncal’ Montilla.

june smoking In order to intensify the campaign against smoking by raising public awareness of its ill effects, as well as to encourage smokers to cease the habit, Presidential Proclamation No. 183, s. 1993, declares the month of June of every year as the National No Smoking Month in the country. This extends the observance of World No Tobacco Day on May 31. The campaign calls the need to focus national attention to the dangers of smoking.
The tobacco epidemic is one of the biggest public health threats the world has ever faced, killing more than 8 million people a year around the world, as the World Health Organization reported.

2020 NUTRITION MONTH STREAMER 1 COTABATO CITY, June 24 (PIA)--- The National Nutrition Council XII is set to highlight the First 1,000 days (F1KD) of a child, through a series of webinars this 2020 Nutrition Month (NM). This is to further promote the right nutrition in the 1,000 days between a woman’s pregnancy and her child’s second birthday because it is during these days the child’s ability to grow, learn, and thrive are established.

NNC XII regional nutrition program coordinator Arceli Latonio said the series of webinars will be open for public as this will be posted to NNC XII’s official Facebook page at https://web.facebook.com/nnc.region12/?ref=bookmarks.
