The Regional Nutrition Committee and Regional Nutrition Cluster hammered down the nutrition activities set for 2017 last March 16, 2017 held at The Farm @ Carpenter Hill, Koronadal City. With 18 representatives from various agencies and organizations (Save the Children, DA, DOH, DepEd, NEDA, DENR, DSWD, DTI, NCIP, NFA, DOST, DOLE and Samaritan’s Purse), the meeting was presided by DOH XII OIC-Regional Director & chair of the Regional Nutrition Committee Dr. Francisco V. Mateo.
The members had set off 2017 plans with matters discussed scoping the 2016 OPT Plus Results, Status of the 2016 RNC Accomplishment Plan, Overview on the Formulation of 2017-2022 Regional Plan of Action for Nutrition (RPAN), Presentation of Programs and Projects of Samaritan’s Purse, Updates of Programs and Projects of Save the Children, RNC/RDC Policy review, Breastfeeding in the workplace and 2017 Nutrition Month Theme.

Sa tatlumpot apat na kalahok na mga Nutriskwela Community Radio Stations sa buong Pilipinas nakakuha ng tatlong parangal ang Radyo Katribu 103.3 FM sa kabila ng dalawang taon pa lamang ito nagsimula bilang bahagi ng Nutriskwela Community Radio ng National Nutrition Council.
Isinagawa ang parangal noong 7th Nutriskwela Conference Awarding Ceremony na ginanap sa Lungsod ng Baguio noong 8 Pebrero 2017.
Sa apat na entries na sinalihan ng Radyo Katribu, tatlo sa mga ito ay natanghal bilang Best Program Manager (Johnary Orella), Best Female Broadcaster (Grace Alindao) at ang Best News Writer (Caesar Ian Bognoson). Bukod rito ay itinanghal rin bilang pangalawang Best Radio Station ang Radyo Katribu na sumunod lamang sa Radyo Kailian ng Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College mula sa Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur.
Sa nakaraang 6th Nutriskwela Conference na ginanap sa Lanao Del Norte, nasungkit din ng Radyo Katribu ang Best Female Broadcaster, Best News Writer at Best Radio Programming.
Isang malaking karangalan ang manalo ng mga nabanggit na parangal, na sa kabila ng masyado pang bago ang Radyo Katribu ay nagkamit na ito ng papuri mula sa NNC. Lubos na nagpapasalamat ang Radyo Katribu sa mga taong naging bahagi ng tagumpay na ito.

26 January 2017-The first meeting of Nutrition in Development Organization of Social Educators (Nutri- DOSE) in SOCCSKSARGEN for 2017 convenes at Boylyn Pensione Plaza, Kidapawan City. There were a total of 15 participants who attended the meeting, composed of various individuals coming from the different media groups in the region.
The meeting primarily scopes the presentation of the Nutri-DOSE 2015-2016 accomplishments, formulation of 2017 workplan, and reorganization of the group. Moreover, new set of officers were also elected and will assume duties for this year, to wit:
President : Ms. Agnes Myra Piñol, Director in Sales and Marketing, Notre Dame Broadcasting Corporation (NDBC), Mindanao
Vice President: Ms. Malu Cadelina-Manar, DXND-Kidapawan City
Secretary : Edwin Fernandez, DXOM Radyo Bida-Koronadal City
Treasurer : Loreto “Lhoy” Rosario, Joy FM 105.7 - Kidapawan City
Auditor : Romnick Cabaron, Energy FM 99.1 - Kidapawan City
P.I.O : Annaliz Cabrido, The Informant, Provincial Government of South Cotabato
As the information arm of NNC XII, Nutri-DOSE will help sustain effort for nutrition advocacy and promotion, contribute in the fast access and retrieval of nutrition information education through various forms of technology, and will facilitate easy access in providing accurate and timely nutrition information to general public.

Samaritan’s Purse (SP) is a non-denominational evangelical Christian Organization which supports in meeting critical needs in troubled regions of the world including victims of war, natural disasters, disease, famine, poverty and persecution in over 100 countries since 1970. In the Philippines, SP started following the aftermath brought by typhoon Yolanda in 2013, which is now operating in Cotabato City since February 2016.
Last December 8, 2016, representatives from Samaritan’s Purse (SP), led by their Area Coordinator, Mr. Wiranta Tarigan, paid courtesy visit to NNC Regional Office XII to give feedback or report their accomplishments. One of their projects is the Scaling Up Nutrition-Cotabato City (SUNC), a one-year project which started in November 2015 and bound to end this December 2016. SP used Care Group/Mother-to-Mother support Group Model for IYCF Mother’s support group as the SUNC project strategy and aims to decrease morbidity and improve the health of infants and children by addressing poor practices of mothers and women of reproductive age in relation to breastfeeding, complementary feeding and other nutrition practices, taking into consideration the culture of Muslims and indigenous peoples group.

The National Nutrition Council Region 12 has just concluded the orientation on Food and Nutrition Security-Early Warning System to the new household level survey enumerators of Tboli, South Cotabato which was held at Villa Amor Hotel, Koronadal City on January 24 – 25, 2017.
FNS-EWS is a form of monitoring and analysis of relevant information that may foretell a possible crisis such as food shortage or health problem. The survey will also provide evidence-based to the local officials in planning and executing timely and appropriate interventions on nutrition and food security.The National Nutrition Council spearhead it to mitigate hunger and malnutrition especially to areas with high prevalence of malnutrition and prone to disasters.
