Six (6) Local Government Units (LGUs) within Region 6 were capacitated during the 5-day Nutrition Program Management (NPM) Training held last September 11-15, 2017 at Iloilo City.
The key people of the Province/City/Municipal Nutrition Committees of the LGUs of Antique, Tobias Fornier, Bacolod City, Kabankalan City, Ilog and Silay were invited to the said training where Dr. Anthony Redaniel of DOH Region VI, Dr. Edmundo Janeo of EB Magalona RHU, Ms. Jocelyn Morano of PNC Antique, Ms. Josephine Firmase of UP BIDANI and Ms. Nona B. Tad-y of NNC Region 6 served as the trainers.

Radyo Kaabyanan 88.5FM, a community radio station, is now on-the-air in Sibalom, Antique after the conduct of the Hands-on Training on Community Radio Broadcasting which was attended by thirty-five (35) sector representatives, LGU and Radio personnel of the said municipality.
The training was facilitated by the National Nutrition Council and MQ Media Productions where Ms. Nona Tad-y, Mr. Mario Garcia, Mr. Louie Tabing, Mr. Andy Vital, Mr. Kiko Flores and Ms. Mackay Quadra served as the trainers.

Nutrition Month 2017, with the theme “Healthy diet gawing habit-FOR LIFE!” was launched in Western Visayas through a kick-off activity last July 19 at Punta Villa Resort, Iloilo City.
The highlight of the said activity was the launching of “10 ka Sugo sa Nutrisyon, Kapagsik kag Kabaskog sang Kabuhi” which is the Hiligaynon translation of the 10 Kumainments. “10 ka Sugo” is a useful guide to achieve healthy diet which is the advocacy of this year’s Nutrition Month.

Local Nutrition Early Warning System (LNEWS) in Region 6 now includes Bago City and Sagay City after their confirmation during the consultative workshops held in each city on August 2 and August 3, respectively.
Members of the City Nutrition Committees of Bago and Sagay participated in the consultative workshops, led by NNC staff including NPC Nona Tad-y, NOII Alona Teo, NOII Sheryl Sedantes and NOI Ritzel Joy Daduya.
LNEWS Core Groups of each city attended the 2-day City-level training at Atrium Hotel in Manila last August 16-17, 2017. The upcoming activities will be the Household Data Collectors Training which is yet to be scheduled by NNC Regional Office 6.

National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region 6 together with the Western Visayas Nutri-Media Circle and the Regional Nutrition Committee translated the 10 Kumainments, the popularized version of the Nutritional Guidelines for Filipinos, into Hiligaynon for better understanding of the people in the region.
With “10 ka Sugo sa Nutrisyon, Kapagsik kag Kabaskog sang Kabuhi” as the title, the 10 Kumainments were translated as follows:

As part of the culminating activity of Nutrition Month 2017, National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region 6 airs Nutrition School-on-the-Air (NSOA) 10 ka Sugo sa Nutrisyon, Kapagsik kag Kabaskog sang Kabuhi on GMA Super Radyo DYSI 1323kHz on August 21, 2017.
NSOA is a 30-minute radio program which elaborates the meaning and practical uses of 10 ka Sugo sa Nutrisyon, the translated version of 10 Kumainments in Hiligaynon. It is composed of 12 sessions that will discuss each Kumainment to guide the listeners in achieving healthy diet and lifestyle.
