Participants from Makato, Batan and Tangalan, Aklan, Pilar and Maayon, Capiz, Maasin and Janiuay, Iloilo and E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental attended the 4-day Nutrition Program Management (NPM) Training last July 18-21 at Eon Centennial Plaza Hotel, Iloilo City.
Resource persons on the said training include Nona B. Tad-y, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator; Sheryl Sedantes, Nutrition Officer II; Dr. N.L. Cathrel Nava, Provincial Health Officer of the Province of Guimaras; Dr. Anthony Redaniel, DMO IV, DOH-RVI ; Ms. Melinda Jamelo; and Dr. Mercedes Ballarta, MHO/MNAO – Lambunao, Iloilo.
The training was divided into eight (8) modules with the purpose of teaching the members of the Municipal Nutrition Committee on how to formulate a sound, comprehensive and effective Local Nutrition Action Plan.
Output of the training is a draft LNAP with refinements made after presentation and a re-entry plan of each municipality.

National Nutrition Council Western Visayas had its kick-off ceremony of Nutrition Month 2016 in Jordan, Guimaras last July 5, 2016.
This year, the campaign focuses on good maternal nutrition and proper infant and young child feeding practices, thus the theme “First 1000 Days ni baby pahalagahan para sa malusog na kinabukasan”.
“Shape the world by giving proper nutrition to our children during the First 1000 Days.” Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Nona Tad-y said
during her speech in the launching program which was attended by Gov. Samuel Gumarin, Mayor Ruben Corpuz and other local officials of Jordan, Guimaras, members of Regional Nutrition Technical Committee, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Barangay Health Workers and, pregnant and lactating mothers of babies up to 2 years of age.

Nutrition Information Education Communication (NIEC) materials from NNC Central Office were delivered to designated LGUs in the Provinces of Iloilo and Capiz. The materials include, BNS Handbook, Mga Lutuing Gulay Simple, Mura at Masustansiya Araw-arawin Recipe Book, Why Not? DVD, Nutri-tip para sa mga Senior Citizen, 10 Kumainments poster and Calendar 2016. P/C/MNAOs or their representatives received the materials and were tasked to distribute these to their BNSes.
These NIEC materials will serve as an educational tool to improve nutrition knowledge and skills of families. The BNSes as frontline nutrition workers are designated to work closely with the families with malnourished children, elderly, pregnant and lactating women and person with disabilities (PWDs).

With the theme of “42 years of quality nutrition service”, almost two hundred employees of National Nutrition Council from all over the Philippines gathered at NNC Central Office in Taguig City to celebrate the agency’s 42nd anniversary on June 20-24, 2016.
The week-long celebration was participated by the NNC Region-VI staff. The first day included trainings for Records and Documentation Management per ISO Standards anchored by AD Chief Chona M. Fernandez and Quality Management Representative and NNC Web Team and Regional Publishers General Assembly and Capacity-building headed by NSD Chief Hygeia Ceres Catalina B. Gawe.
