Cebu City – Aiming at curbing hunger and malnutrition in their respective households, the National Nutrition Council VII with the Cebu City Nutrition Council, Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars Association 7, Inc. (FeBaNuSA 7) and Cebu City Nutrition Scholars Association has sustained the momentum of its Anti-Hunger Caravan that started last 01 July.

Cebu City – Garnering a score of 88.7%, BNS Consolacion G. Galon of Barangay Malaiba, Canlaon City bested the other eleven Barangay Nutrition Scholars vying for the 2012 Search for the Regional Outstanding Barangay Nisutrition Scholar Award.
Being the Barangay Nutrition Scholar of Barangay Malaiba since 1987, Mrs. Consolacion G. Galon has been serving the underprivileged families in the community for 26 years.
Doing her responsibilities religiously like giving counsel nutrition-related cases, weight monitoring, advising families to establish home gardens, assisting the Rural Health Midwife in the different activities of the Barangay Health Station, she achieved zero underweight and overweight among Pre-School Children in her barangay.
Mrs. Galon is known to conduct Pabasa sa Nutrisyon among mothers of malnourished pre-school children, pregnant/lactating mothers, conduct exclusive breastfeeding campaign for 0-6 months old children; and initiation of BNS Communal Vegetable Garden beside the Barangay Health Station in which products from the garden are utilized for feeding the malnourished children, pregnant/lactating mothers.

Cebu City – The “Pick and Pay” project of the Barangay Subangdaku Nutrition Committee and the Mandaue City Nutrition Committee was awarded as one of the Good Nutrition Projects in the region during the Grand Nutrition Awards 2013 held on 02 August 2013 at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, Cebu City. Present to receive the award was Barangay Captain Ernie N. Manatad of Barangay Subangdako and City Nutrition Action Officer, Dr. Edna R. Seno.
Proving that gardening is possible in urban settings, the Barangay Subangdaku Nutrition Committee with the help of the Mandaue City Nutrition Committee, successfully implemented the Pick & Pay Project last year. TelOf, the owner of the lot, allowed the setting-up of the gardens where residents of the barangay, families of TB Patients and barangay workers could cultivate gardens with seedlings provided by the City Agriculture Office. With 40 participant-gardeners, the project aims to address the problem of adequate space for vegetable garden, to have an organic source of fresh vegetables for daily home consumption. Income from the produce would be kept by the ones cultivating the gardens. It serves as model farm for the rest of the barangays in Mandaue City. To improve the produce of the gardens, a seminar on composting and on how to cultivate, care and protect the garden from pests was done.

Cebu City – Mabini, Bohol’s “Processed Vegetable Meals para sa Kabataan” was acknowledged as a Good Nutrition in the Region during the Grand Nutrition Awards 2013 held on 02 August 2013 at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, Cebu City.
Stemming from the need to solve the problem of malnutrition, the municipality gave appealing and nutritious food to children beneficiaries of feeding activities. The children were fed with the municipality's local produce banana, squash and malunggay. It also provided an alternative source of income and livelihood to members of MFRIC, the Mabini Food Processing Center.

Cebu City – After cutting the malnutrition rate from 1.79% in 2011 to 1.55% in 2012, Jagna, Bohol was awarded as Outstanding Municipality in the Region during the Grand Nutrition Awards 2013 held on 02 August 2013 at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, Cebu City. The municipality was also awarded the Outstanding Municipality in the Province of Bohol.
Having been awarded Outstanding Municipality for three consecutive times, Jagna was conferred the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Awardee. Mayor Fortunato R. Abrenilla together the Municipal Nutrition Committee members, Municipal Action Officer Ms. Anecita G. Ocmeja and Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator Ms. Elizabeth S. Sajulga received the plaques of recognition and the Green Banners.

Cebu City – The Green, Responsive and Enterprising Engagement for a Nourished (GREEN) Agriculture of Bilar, Bohol was recognized as one of the Good Nutrition Projects in the region during the Grand Nutrition Awards 2013 held on 02 August 2013 at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, Cebu City.
To help curb the malnutrition problem in the municipality, the MNC of Bilar underwent the GREEN Agriculture to provide a daily supply of vegetables in every home. It aims to promote vegetable production, provide additional income to the family and as a means to eradicate poverty.
While seed capital is shouldered by the municipal government, the project adheres to pure organic farming system. Seven barangays participated in the project. The participants include local officials, farmer-leaders and vegetable growers. They went through 4 16 weeks of training which included lectures, demonstrations, video showing and actual practicum in their demonstration lot.
