The RNC – TWG had their 1st Quarter Meeting held on February 10, 2011, at Portofino Beach Resort, Lapu-lapu City. RNC - TWG Chair, Ms. Melinda Cañares of DSWD presided the meeting. Inattendance were Ms. Grace Espos of DepED, Ms. Ma. Sostheleen Padilla of NEDA, Ms. Susan Tolentino of DILG, Ms. Cherryl dela Victoria of DA, Ms. Rebecca Basilla of DTI, Ms. Ma. Ligaya Moniva of DOH, Ms. Lovelyn Nellas of NCP, Mr. Leo Fernandez of POPCOM, from the NNC Secretariat, Ms. Susan Orpilla, Ms. Eula Mayol, Mr. Dave Bargamento and Mr. Eduardo Baguio.

Cebu City – If only to get themselves hands on experience of what it means to plant vegetables and grow pigs, the NNC 7, PIA 7, DA 7 and the Cebu City Agriculture Office organized a Media Visit last September 14, 2012 to the different vegetable farms in Sudlon 1 and Sudlon 2, Cebu City.
So they could do planting other than writing, the media also visited Cebu City Agriculture Nursery, organic piggery and the Agricultural Tramline System in Sudlon 1. The participants who joined the visit were able to interview local producers regarding vegetable production and the financial and technical help extended by the local government of Cebu City to the farmers to increase vegetable produce.
Among the media outlets that dispatched teams for the coverage were TV 5, GMA 7, DYLA, DYHP, Bombo Radyo, Manila Bulletin and Cebu Daily News. NO II Dave F. Bargamento and AA III Eduardo B. Baguio along with MIND 7 President Jun P. Tagalog, VP for TV Yolanda A. Gendrauli, VP for IOs Marie Mignon A. Nillama and MIND 7 Member Phoebe Jen A. Indino joined the Media Visit. They are expected to write and feature articles in their respective networks.
NNC 7 had suggested to tour the media to selected vegetable plantations in the city’s mountain barangays thus prompting the familiarization visits. // DFB

Tubigon, Bohol – The municipality of Tubigon, Bohol is Region VII’s contender for the this year’s Nutrition Honor Award after winning the 2nd Year Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Maintenance Award in 2012.
The Nutrition Honor Award (NHA) is given to CROWN awardees that have consistently shown outstanding performance in efforts for nutrition improvement. A score of at least 98% for the 2012 performance enables the municipality to achieve this highest award a local government unit can receive in the area of nutrition. Tubigon will be visited by the national Nutrition Evaluation Team headed by Assistant Secretary of Health and NNC Executive Director IV Maria-Bernardita T. Flores on June 12 to 15, 2013. She is joined by the team of evaluators from DILG, FNRI and CWC.

Toledo City – Region VII’s bet for the 1st Year Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Maintenance Award, Toledo City was evaluated by the National Nutrition Evaluation Team last 19 to 21 March 2013. Toledo City gets the chance to keep the award for the second year if its nutrition status reaches a score of at least 90%.
The team was headed by Ms. Jasmine DF. Tandingan, Nutrition Officer II of NSD, NNC. Other members of the team were Ms. Azucena R. Banga of SPAP, Caritas-Manila and Mr. Benjamin Jose G. Bautista of SDS, NEDA evaluated the effectiveness and efficiency of the implementation of the nutrition program of the city and five randomly selected barangays.

Cebu City – Sensitivity to nutrition comes with being child-friendly. National Nutrition Council Region VII NO II Susan Y. Orpilla, RND presented the NNC 7 2012 Agency Accomplishment report and the proposed 2013 agency priority agenda and work and financial plan for children during the First Quarter Meeting of the Regional Sub-Committee for the Council for the Welfare of Children. The caucus was held at the Conference Room of DSWD Field Office VII, Cebu City last April 10, 2013.

The Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development 7 (MIND 7) had their 1st Organizational Meeting on December 21, 2010 at PINO Restaurant, Lahug, Cebu City.
