Cebu City - The Media Information Network for Nutrition and Development 7 (MIND 7) reinvigorates its support for NNC 7’s social and behavior change communication campaign. This was affirmed by the officers during its blended meeting held on 21 November 2022.
MIND 7 is an association of media practitioners in the region organized by NNC 7 on 17 November 2010 to help sustain efforts for nutrition advocacy and promotion in the region. The network to date provides opportunities to promote and disseminate evidenced-based nutrition messages in their respective media outlets and channels thru social media platforms, radio broadcasts, television programs, and print.

Cebu, City - The Human Resources for Health for Nutrition conducted their year-end Program Implementation Review (PIR) on 08 December 2022 at the Golden Valley Hotel, Cebu City, Cebu. The activity was attended by all 14 deployed HRH-N in the region: two (2) from Bohol Province, three (3) from Cebu Province, five (5) from Negros Oriental Province and two (2) from Siquijor Province.
Since the deployment of additional human resource to the different priority areas in the region, it has contributed to the attainment of the targets of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2017-2022. These NDDPs are deployed to 37 local government units in Central Visayas and has helped strengthened their implementation of the different PPAN programs namely the Nutrition Specific, Nutrition Sensitive and Enabling Programs. This has improved the region’s nutritional status as shown in the recent 2022 OPT Plus results where stunting in Central Visayas has decreased from 9.66% in 2021 to 8.50% in 2022 and wasting from 2.4% to 2.21%, although a fluctuating result was seen for overweight and underweight due to the pandemic.

Makati City - Following the OPT Plus flowchart of activities Part 1 the continuation of the flow of activities for OPT plus proceeds to Activity three: OPT Plus Nutritional Status Assessment where processing of the OPT plus data is transferred or inputted to the e-OPT Plus tool developed by NNC for efficient collection, calculation, and reporting of OPT plus data.
Activity four: OPT Plus data interpretation and Action Planning - the gathered data is to be shared to the Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC) to identify and prioritize nutrition plans, projects, and activities to be included in their Barangay Nutrition Action Plan (BNAP). The BNC is also responsible to check any inconsistencies in the data gathered especially noting the prevalence of the malnutrition rate in the barangay.

Cebu City – LNC members and planning officers from the cities and municipalities of province of Cebu bonded together to formulate their respective local nutrition action plan in local nutrition action planning workshop organized by NNC 7 on 18-19 October 2022 at the One Central Hotel, Cebu City.
Done after the success of the Bohol province’s leg, the two-day workshop dubbed as “Planning Workshop on the Integration of Nutrition in the 2023-2025 LDP and the 2023 AIP” is a strategy of the NNC 7 to help LGUs realize the alarming cause of malnutrition and its impact not only to its children and families, but also the community and the country.
Eighty-nine NAOs, planning officers, local NPCs and other LNC members from 53 attending LGUs were present during the activity. Selected DMOs from the province were also invited during the workshop to share their insights to the LGUs and help identify action points to streamline the LNAP targets and strategies with the Universal Health Care’s.

Cebu City – There are cactus plants that produce delectable fruit such as the dragon fruit. This fruit is also known as the strawberry pear and is from the group genus Stenocereus or Cactaceae family which originates from Central and South America. Fruits from these groups mostly grow in the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The two primary species of this fruit raised for commerce are the fruit-bearing Hylocereus undatus, which bears white flesh and vivid pink skin, and those fruit from species of Hylocereus costaricensis that has brilliant pink skin and pink flesh in a variety of tones. Further, Selenecereus megalanthus is another variety of dragon fruit that has yellow skin and white flesh.

Bogo City, Cebu - On August 26, 2022, Bogo District of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints launched the Child Nutrition Program (CNP). The program helps mother and children get better nutrition.
The program was participated by 400 members of the Church and guests covering the northern municipalities of Cebu: Bogo City, Medellin, Daan Bantayan, San Remegio, and Bantayan Islands.
The nutrition program was in partnership with National Nutrition Council Region VII, Mobile Emergency and Disaster Rescue Unit, Local Government Units of Bogo City and Medellin, and Rise and Rebuild International Foundation who is also a SUN (Scaling Up Nutrition) Civil Society Association member in Central Visayas. The Rise and Rebuild Foundation hosted a free healthy sumptuous lunch for the participants and beneficiaries.
