Mandaue City – The Mandaue City Nutrition Committee (CNC) through the Mandaue City Nutrition Office launched the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program on 16 February 2023, in three (3) selected barangays of the city, namely Basak, Looc, and Umapad, having a total of 150 beneficiaries. The City Nutrition Program Coordinator, Ms Josephine Aniñon together with the nutrition focal persons from the city spearheaded the launching event with the active involvement of the Barangay Nutrition Committee of barangays where the program is implemented.

The CNC of Mandaue joined the simultaneous commencement of Phases 3 and 4 of said program initiated by the National Nutrition Council Region VII in the 4 provinces of Central Visayas. TKSP aims to prevent stunting among children 0-23 months old through the promotion of good nutrition. This can be achievable through the provision of Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) and First 1000 Days services among nutritionally at-risk pregnant women and children below 2 years of age, especially targeting areas with high malnutrition rates.

La Libertad, Negros Oriental – The Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) of La Libertad spearheaded by its MNC Chairman, Hon. Emmanuel L. Iway conducted its first quarter joint Expanded Local Health Board and MNC meeting on 14 February 2023 at La Libertad Municipal Hall. Fourteen (14) MNC members/head of offices attended the meeting.

ND II Chutsvieka May Pacatang of DOH CVCHD/NNC 7 presented and oriented the MNC members regarding the upcoming Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program (TKSP) Phase 4. The TKSP Phase 4 will provide dietary supplementation to 6–23-month-old children enrolled in the program. LGU La Libertad is one of the 2 municipalities in the province of Negros Oriental included in this phase of the program.

Basay, Negros Oriental – Barangay Olandao put up a community water refilling station to address the concern of safe water for its constituents. The project was made possible through the initiative of its BNC Chair and Punong Barangay (PB) Hon. Pampiana Barnabe.

Being a former BNS, PB Bernabe knows the implication of the lack of potable water on the health and nutrition of an individual. Commercial water distributors have difficulty supplying mineral water to the barangay because of its terrain and the road tends to be slippery during heavy rains. With the limited funds from the barangays, she made representation with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and granted Php2 million grants for the said water project.

Tayasan, Negros Oriental – The Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) of Tayasan launched the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program (TKSP) Phase 4 on 16 February 2023 as part of the regional launching of said program in Central Visayas. Actively supported by the MNC Chair and Mayor, Hon. Susano Antonio D. Ruperto III, the event was spearheaded by MHO/MNAO Dr. Myrasol Zuniega, and PHN/MNPC Ms. Demma Irene Bromo.

The municipality of Tayasan is one of the beneficiaries of the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program Phase 4 in the Province of Negros Oriental. Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program (TKSP) is a nationally funded program of the National Nutrition Council of the Department of Health targeting 6–23-month-old children. This program aims to prevent stunting in children 6-23 months old.

Santa Catalina, Negros Oriental – It’s TKSP season again. Being one of the recipients of the most successful Dietary Supplementation Program in the country, the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program (TKSP) Phase 1 in Santa Catalina in 2021, the Municipal Nutrition Committee committed to support the implementation of Phase 4 of said program.

The sealing of commitment was done on 16 February 2023 during the launching day itself where program implementers led by MNPC Loryjean Necio and the parents of beneficiaries signed the covenant pledging themselves to actively support and participate in the program until its conclusion. Before the commitment signing, a short lecture on the First 1,000 Days and discussion of the roles of parents and caregivers for the program was conducted. Children’s height, weight, and MUAC measurements were also taken before the actual feeding. The children loved the RiMo and they fully consumed their allocation to the delight of parents and health and nutrition workers watching them.
