RONDA 1The Regional Organization of Nutrition Development Advocates-1 (RONDA-1) Inc., the local media group for nutrition in Region I organized by the National Nutrition Council - Ilocos Region secured its Security and Exchange Commission (SEC)- Certificate of Incorporation last April 11, 2016.

This will ensure sustainability and intensification on the promotion and advocacy of various nutrition programs of the government in the region through the quad media.

RONDA-1 Inc. was organized in 2011 to foster a strong, united and active comradeship among members belonging to the Nutrition community, Print and Broadcast Media Industry; promote and uphold dignity and ethics of the Media Industry and the nutrition programs of NNC in the area; participate actively and aggressively as well as effectively in the health role of a free, fearless press, and developmental programs of the NNC; lead in the maintenance and defense of the freedom of information and in the protection of the health of the people under the democratic way of life; and initiate worthwhile projects that would improve the practice of the journalistic craft and harmony of the people by way of orienting them on the nutritional goals of the government.

RONDA-1 Inc. is encouraging all legitimate media practitioners in the region to join the organization to widen its massive nutrition promotion and advocacy targeting all areas in the region.

 

National Nutrition Cluster Released its Advisory Number 1 para sa Tamang Nutrisyon sa Panahon ng El NinoAng Rehiyon Uno at buong bansa ay nakakaranas ng matinding init mula pa noong Marso at inaasahan ito hanggang Mayo dulot ng El Niño. Ang El Niño ay hindi pangkaraniwang pag-init ng karagatan sa gitna at silangan ng Pacific Ocean na nagdudulot ng matinding tagtuyot bunga ng kakaunting pag-ulan. Ang kakulangan ng tubig ay hindi lamang nakakaapekto sa problema ng agrikultura lalo na sa suplay ng pagkain kundi pati sa nutrisyon ng bawat tao kaya binuo ng National Nutrition Cluster na sumasailalim sa Health Cluster ng DOH ang National Nutrition Cluster Advisory 1 na kung saan nakapaloob sa acronym na TUBIG PA MORE na layuning ipahatidang tamang nutrisyon sa panahon ng El Niño.

Tubig na iniinom at gamit sa pagluluto ay siguruhing malinis para maiwasan ang sakit na sanhi ng maruming tubig. Pakuluan ang inuming tubig.

Uminom palagi ng tubig at ibang inumintulad ng fruit juicepara hindi maubusan ng tubig sa katawan. Kumain din ng prutas at gulay na maraming tubig tulad ng pakwan, melon, dalandan, singkamas, saging, pipino, at iba pa. Iwasan ang softdrinks, alak, kape at tsaa na lalong nakakabawas ng tubig sa katawan.

Bigyan ng karagdagang tubig-inumin ang mga nagpapasusong ina.

Iwasan ang matinding init ng araw para hindi ma-heat stroke.

Gumamit ng malinis na tubig sa paglilinis ng katawan para maiwasan ang sakit sa balat at impeksyon.

Zumba session spearheaded by the Ilocos Regional Training and Medical Center (ITRMC) during the Regional Kick-off Program of the Women's Month Celebration last March 16, 2016.San Fernando City - The National Nutrition Council- Region I participated in various activities in celebrating women’s month spearheaded by the Region I Advocates for Gender Equality (RAGE-I) with this year’s theme “Pagsayaatan ni Juana, Ikuyog iti Pagsaritaan!” /“Kapakanan ni Juana, Isama sa Agenda!”.

The theme echoes the call for gender-balance in leadership and decision making positions both in public and private sector, inclusion of women’s concerns in leadership platforms and the government’s development agenda; and capacitating and preparing women and girls to reach their ambitions.

RLNAOs Backdrop 203 March 2016—The League of Nutrition Action Officers in Region I, Inc. (RLNAOs) in partnership with the Provincial League of NAOs and Nutrition Office of Pangasinan as the host province and in coordination with the National Nutrition Council- Regional Office I (NNC-ROI) will hold its 22nd Annual Conference cum General Assembly on March 29-31, 2016 at Hotel Veniz, Baguio City.

The conference with the theme: “RLNAOs: Converging Nutrition Efforts Towards Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals!”  will focus on the SDGs particularly on Goal 2: End Hunger, Achieve Food Security and Improved Nutrition and Promote Sustainable Agriculture.

Agdeppa presenting the scaling-up rice fortification program through technology transfer during the Rice Fortification Forum in Pangasinan.San Fernando City, La Union- The Food and Nutrition Research Institute- Department of Science and Technology (FNRI-DOST) in coordination with the Provincial Science and Technology Center conducted series of Iron Fortification Rice advocacy forum with the theme, “Scaling-up Rice Fortification through Techno Transfer” on March 7, 8, 9 and 14, 2016 in the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan, respectively. The forum was participated by regional agencies, provincial/city/municipal nutrition action officers, non-government organizations, local media and rice producers/millers which aim to create awareness on the consumption of Iron Fortified Rice (IFR) and to scale-up the production of IFR in region 1 by increasing more adopters of the technology, at the same time providing economic opportunities to entrepreneurs.
