When it comes to food intake, there is a mantra that is so simple to abide by--always in Moderation, Variety, and Balance (or simply MVB). The amount of food that we put in our mouths must be in moderation, have different food sources, and should always be balanced in nutrients.

There never is an ultimate magic bullet of nutrients that can protect us from illness. We need more than 40 different nutrients for good health, and no single food can supply all of them. Our plates should include a portion of vegetables, fruits, rice, white meat, and fibrous foods.

John Dale C. Maningo, RND - The Cebu City Nutrition Office noted positive results of the Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program (TKSP). This was observed when Nutrition Officers Aldren D. Abarquez, Fel August A. Congson, Shaira Camille T. Labastida, John Dale C. Maningo, Suzette Jade M. Salado, Vanessa Lyka A. Salon, and Alyanna Seville, together with CNS of Barangay Pasil, Amelia T. Bagtong, and select City Nutrition Scholars (Barangay Nutrtition Scholars) Charlie Garcia, and Jocelyn Caparrida, conducted a post implementation monitoring of the program in Barangay Mambaling and Pasil from May to June 2021.

 

CCNO pre MELLPIJohn Dale C. Maningo, RND - The Cebu City Nutrition Committee thru the newly organized Nutrition Office conducted pre- Monitoring and Evaluation Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) activities in select barangays in the city. The team composed of Nutrition Officers Aldren D. Abarquez, Fel August A. Congson, Shaira Camille T. Labastida, John Dale C. Maningo, Suzette Jade M. Salado, Vanessa Lyka A. Salon, and Alyanna Seville together with the Nutritionists from the Cebu City Health Department Mr. Allan M. Daag and Mary Gessa Vergara and their Nutrition Coordinator Ms. Luna L. Cruz visited Barangays Sto. Nino, Buot-Taup, Tagbao, and Tabunan from dates March 7-14, 2022, for said monitoring and evaluation activities.

NNC7EARTHQUAKEDRILL

Cebu City -- The Department of Health CVCHD conducted an earthquake drill for their employees 10 March 2022. The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Region VII official and staff participated in the drill to be aware and prepared if a natural phenomenon occurs. Safety precautions like the duck, cover, and hold were observed, and there was also a play of first aid respondents during the drill.
