(Ms. Gelaine Louise D. Gutierrez/Mr. Jerome Carlo R. Paunan/PIA-NCR) - Defending one's right to nutrition and preventing early death is critical, especially during and in the aftermath of disasters. Population groups already undernourished are more exposed to sickness and death when a disaster happens.
Nutrition in Emergencies (NiE) is a nutrition service for emergency planning, response, and recovery to prevent a person's nutritional status from declining, which could lead to an untimely death.
Nutritional assessment, infant and young child feeding promotion, protection, support, management of acute malnutrition, micronutrient supplementation, and other interventions that may or may not include food are nutrition services incorporated in a Nutrition in Emergencies plan.
