The notable full devolution efforts in eight proactive Calabarzon LGUs have led to the creation of Nutrition Offices and additional hiring of Nutrition Officers (NOs) in the region -- indicating early constructive gains in the implementation of Executive Order 138 or the Mandanas-Garcia Ruling.
Accordingly, the Regional Sub-Committee on Nutrition (RSCN) and the National Nutrition Council Calabarzon were well-pleased and grateful to the LGUs who vigorously responded to the call to further boost their nutrition programs, projects and activities. The significant outputs are the following:

With NNC Calabarzon’s successful completion of its 2022 planning of activity with the Regional Bantay Asin Task Force (RBATF) members, one of the agreed priorities is the strengthening of the LGUs Local Bantay Asin Task Force (LBATF).
To fire up the vital participation of the LBATF in their active and efficient implementation of the National Salt Iodization Program (NSIP) and RA 8-72 or Asin Law – recognitions and awards await them in the 2022 NNC Calabarzon Annual Regional Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (RNAC).

The City Nutrition Committee (CNC) of Biñan is just one step away in achieving the next Nutrition Honor Award (NHA) after it has recently harvested another nutrition award: the “2nd Year Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Maintenance Award.” The NHA is the highest distinction given by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) to an LGU, in recognition of its outstanding planning, management and implementation of local nutrition programs.
Earlier in 2019, the city was conferred the “1st Year CROWN Maintenance Award.” It also garnered the CROWN Award in the 2018 National Nutrition Awarding Ceremony (NNAC) after being a “Green Banner Awardee in CaLaBaRZon” for three consecutive years. The Green Banner Award is given to the top performing LGUs in the region.

26 January 2022 – In being true to its commitment of strengthening the competencies of various nutrition stakeholders through public education, capacity building and skills development -- NNC Calabarzon recently provided online technical assistance to the seven Barangay Nutrition Scholars of the Municipality of Rizal, Laguna.
The mandatory “Basic Course Training” was planned and conducted by the Municipal Nutrition Committee (MNC) of Rizal and Mr. Maku Almario (Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (MNAO) of Rizal) as early as January. It was successfully facilitated by Mr. Edward Paglinawan ( NO II) and Mr. Darrenz William Mateos (NO I).

A total of 212 “more self-assured and more capacitated” pregnant teens from different barangays of the Municipality of Rodriguez-Montalban, Rizal attended the “Teenage Pregnancy Symposium” at the Municipal Gymnasium during the celebration of the 2022 National Women's Month, March 9 to 14.
The purposeful symposium with the theme ““WE Make CHANGE Work for Women: Agenda ng Kababaihan, Tungo sa Kaunlaran,” clearly promoted the personal well-being and enhanced the community engagement of the pregnant teen participants. It made them realize that even with their early experience of pregnancy, they can get their life back with their new learnings, skills and involvement.
