The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA conducted the second virtual monitoring activity on Local Nutrition Early Warning System for Food and Nutrition Security for the municipality of Coron, Palawan through Zoom application.
The monitoring activity was attended by three members of the Municipal Core Group namely Municipal Planning and Development Officer Mr. Ronald Lara, Municipal Agriculture Officer Mr. Geronimo Gevela, and Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Ms. Elizabeth Balbutan, together with the Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) from the five sentinel barangays. This activity aims to evaluate the LGU if the program is being implemented and integrated in the area.

Participants from the Province of Romblon completed the 3-day Online Annual Investment Program (AIP) Online Workshop held on 17, 18 and 20 August 2021, making them the second province to complete the workshop this year. The workshop was attended by 58 participants composed of Municipal Nutrition Action Officers (MNAOs), Municipal Health Officers (MHOs), Municipal Planning and Development Officers (MPDOs), Municipal Budget Officers (MBOs), and SB Committee on Health Chair in 17 municipalities. The Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO) and District Nutrition Program Coordinators (DNPCs) attended as well. The workshop was conducted through Zoom Application platform.
The workshop aimed to integrate nutrition related program, project, and activities in the respective AIPs of municipalities and in the province as well for better allocation of fund in nutrition.

Tuberculosis is one of the contagious and potentially life-threatening and serious illnesses which can be transmitted through air. Tuberculosis usually strikes the lungs and at the contemporary, it can be cured and treated with the right antibiotics. Typical symptoms of tuberculosis are persistent cough that lasts more than 3 weeks and usually brings up phlegm, which in serious cases, may have blood. Patients may also exhibit tiredness or fatigue and night sweats.

Through the Proclamation No. 1309 of June 2007, the Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) week is celebrated every 2nd week of August spearheaded by the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and Commission on Higher Education and Development (CHED) to promote and enhance cooperation among research organizations and network; to share and pool resources; to develop capacities for knowledge production, use and management; and, to conduct health research following ethical standards.

NNC MIMAROPA headed by Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ma. Eileen B. Blanco met with Radyo Kasimanwa for a coordination meeting on 16 August 2021 via Zoom Application. The station was represented by Station Manager (SM) Alfredo Araneta, Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Elizabeth Balbutan and CRC Member Heidi Garcellano and joined by Provincial Nutrition Action Officer (PNAO) Rachel Paladan.
The meeting aimed to know the updates on the station and identify specific actions for its operationalization. SM Araneta reported that the rehabilitation and upgrading of facilities were already done, transmitter house and antenna pole in Mt. Tapyas is ready, and the power connection to the station has been installed.
