The National Nutrition Council – National Capital Region (NNC-NCR) participated in the Department of Health – NCRO’s Launching of Micronutrient Supplementation at the Muntinlupa Elementary School on October 7, 2015. It is one of the High Impact 5 Program (HI5) activities of the Department of Health.
The launching, led by Hon. Mayor Jimmy Fresnedi, highlighted the ceremonial administration of Micronutrient Vitamin A capsule (VAC) and provision of Nutri Food packs to the 10 selected beneficiaries from the school. Dr. Cherry Navidad, Medical Nutrition Coordinator of Muntinlupa Health Department, discussed the Micronutrient Program to the fathers and mothers of the participating students. The children enjoyed playing a game on Go, Grow, and Glow Foods facilitated by Ms. Ana Ordenes, City Nutrition Program Coordinator of Muntinlupa Nutrition Office. A message given by Dr. Reinhard Dalumpines, Head of Family Health Cluster Unit of DOH-NCRO, concluded the event.

NNC-NCR conducted its Regional Launch of the Saktong Iodine sa Asin Seal on September 28, 2015 at the Berjaya Hotel, Makati City. The adequately-iodized salt quality seal dubbed as “Saktong Iodine sa Asin” is developed mainly to strengthen and revitalize the exisiting Diamond Sangkap Pinoy Seal (DSPS) used in the labels of iodized salt. The new adequately-iodized salt seal aims to increase awareness and use of adequately-iodized salt in households and point of purchase. The quality seal serves as guide to consumers in identifying and purchasing adequately-iodized salt and reassures them that the product is compliant with the national standards prescribed in RA 8172, also known as the Act on Salt Iodization Nationwide or ASIN Law.
Along with the launch was the conduct of the 1st joint meeting of the Regional Technical Working Group on the Salt Iodization Program (RTWG-SIP) and the Local Bantay Asin Task Force (LBATF). Development Management Officers (DMOs) of the Department of Health-NCRO, members of the RTWG-SIP, Focal Nutritionist-Dietitans and Sanitary Inspectors of the local government units of NCR attended the said event who are expected to intensify the promotion of the “Saktong Iodine sa Asin” Seal and the implementation of the Salt Iodization Program in Metro Manila. The City/District Nutrition Program Coordinators of Metro Manila Association, in partnership with the National Nutrition Council – NCR, celebrated its 30 years of existence and fruitful service with a regional conference with the theme “Three Decades and Beyond: Going Stronger for a Better Nutrition” held on September 16, 2015 at Hotel Jen Manila, Pasay City.
Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa V. Federizo, in her opening message, expressed her thanks and gratitude to the C/DNPC Association for being an active partner of the NNC-NCR in the advocacy and promotion of good nutrition and implementation of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition in the region. She encouraged the Officers and members of the Association to continue to nourish the Association and work together to fight hunger and malnutrition.

The National Nutrition Council of the National Capital Region (NNC-NCR) participated in the two-day event of the 2015 Philippine Generics Summit of the Department of Health with the theme “Kasama ako! Sa pagsusulong ng Generics! Lahat ay may responsibilidad.” on September 29-30, 2015 at the SM Megamall Activity Center, Mandaluyong City. More than 200 pharmacists, medical doctors and other health workers and stakeholders from the 17 LGUs of Metro Manila attended the event.
On the first day of the Summit, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Milagros Elisa V. Federizo attended the Opening Program. NNC-NCR staff distributed 10 Kumainments flyers, refrigerator magnets, foldable fans and Pinggang Pinoy brochure as a strategy to promote and advocate good nutrition. On the second day, Nutrition Officer III Emerenciana L. Francia gave a short lecture on the 10 Kumainments: Para sa Sigla at Lakas ng Buhay. Undersecretary of Health Dr. Enrique A. Tayag together with Slimmers World led the fitness exercise to encourage participants to be physically active. Also included in the two-day summit were lectures on drug price watch, antibiotic resistance, quality assurance of generic medicines and role of pharmacists in increasing public awareness and usage of generic medicines.
Through the Generics Summit, participants were able to know more about the Complete Treatment Pack (ComPack) Program of the DOH that aims to ensure that Filipinos have access to available and affordable quality generic medicines. (TAR/MEVF/NNCNCR)

NNC-NCR conducted its Training on Nutrition in Emergencies at Berjaya Hotel in Makati City on September 7-11, 2015. Sixteen (16) members of the Regional Nutrition Cluster from different agencies namely: Department of Health – NCRO, Commission on Population – NCR, Department of Social Welfare and Development – NCR, Department of Trade and Industry – NCR Nutrition Center of the Philippines (NCP), City/District Nutrition Program Coordinators Association of Metro Manila, Inc., Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines, Inc., Infant and Young Child Feeding Coordinators of Metro Manila, , ABS-CBN Bantay Bata 163, NCR Nutrition Communication Resource Group, Philippine Red Cross National Headquarter, Save the Children, Federation of Barangay Nutrition Scholars of NCR, Inc., Rural Improvement Clubs of the Philippines, Inc., Grace Family Helper Project, and Hope for the Youth Foundation and Manila Health Department as representative of the 17 LGUs in NCR completed the 5-day live-in training.

Tinanggap ni butihing Mayor Lenlen Oreta III ang “standee” ni “Mang Moi” mula sa National Nutrition Council – National Capital Region (NNC-NCR) sa isang payak na programa noong Setyembre 22, 2015 sa Catmon Covered Court, Barangay Catmon, lungsod na ito.
Isinalin ng NNC-NCR sa pamamagitan ni Nutrition Officer II Thesa Rivas ang naturang “standee” na may dalang “Ten Kumainments,” o ang 10 Gabay sa Wastong Nutrisyon sa City Nutrition Committee ng Malabon na pinangungunahan ni Mayor Lenlen Oreta at City Nutrition Action Officer, Chef Melissa Sison-Oreta.
Dinaluhan ng mahigit 170 mamamayan ng Catmon ang okasyon, na kinatampukan din ng detalyadong pagtalakay kung paano maaabot at mapapanatili ang wastong kalusugan sa pamamagitan ng tamang pagkain at araw-araw na gawi.
