In promoting proper health and nutrition for the Filipinos, comics is incredibly useful, entertaining, and visually appealing. Such that NNC Calabarzon, in partnership with the Communicators’ Network for Nutrition in Region 4A (CNN-4A, the regional media group of Calabarzon) has embarked on the 6th Nutri Komiks series.
Entitled “Sa Tamang Nutrisyon, Tiyak ang Kalusugan ni Lolo at Lola,” the 6th series of Nutri –Komiks, has been recently released to provide essential nutrition guidelines for the elderly. It highlights a balanced diet; moderation in eating sweet, salty and fatty foods; staying hydrated; and having regular physical activities.

Ayon sa Civil Service Commission o CSC, ang ating mga Barangay Nutrition Scholar o BNS ay kwalipikadong makatanggap ng tinatawag na Barangay Nutrition Scholar Eligibility (BNSE). Ang BNSE ay ibinibigay sa mga indibidwal na nagserbisyo na sa loob ng hindi bababa sa dalawang (2) taon (tuluy-tuloy at kasiya-siyang serbisyo) bilang BNS.

MANILA, Nov. 29-- As part of the continuing capacity development program of the National Nutrition Council, the Training on Nutrition Program Management (NPM) was conducted for the 21 newly designated and untrained Nutrition Action Officers (NAO) and District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators (D/CNPC) of Calabarzon on November 25-29, 2019 at Swiss-Belhotel Blulane, Sta. Cruz, Manila.
The participants were welcomed and acknowledged by Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator (RNPC) Carina Z. Santiago. The 5-day training was facilitated by Training Manager and Nutrition Officer (NO) III, Ms. Lourdes B. Orongan together with NO II Ezra Minette B. Lasin and Provincial Nutrition Coordinator (PNC) Zarah Clarice T. Megino. NO I Alistaire Anne M. Matociños acted as secretariat and participant.

Municipality of Rodriguez, Rizal, Feb. 27 – To ensure the full growth and development of your baby, good nutrition throughout pregnancy is vital. Aside from good psychosocial stimulation to your baby, you (pregnant mother) need to consume enough nutrients to meet your baby's needs and your own.
As support for the pregnant mothers in Southville 8B, a resettlement site in Rodriguez, the National Nutrition Council (NNC) in cooperation with the local government of Rodriguez, will soon implement the Dietary Supplementation Program (DSP) for Pregnant Women. The program aims to provide additional food based on the caloric needs of all the pregnant mothers (300 kcal for normal BMI and 500 kcal for nutritionally-at-risk pregnant women) to prevent delivery of low birth weight babies. Complementing the program are the conduct of nutrition education classes. Medicinal supplements will also be given to the beneficiaries.

MALVAR, Batangas, Nov. 28-- The National Nutrition Council (NNC) Calabarzon and the Department of Health (DOH) Calabarzon together with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) conducted the roll out Training on Nutrition Cluster Information Management (IM) for Local Government Units (LGU) to the top disaster-prone provinces, cities and municipalities in Calabarzon.
The four (4) module training aimed to build the capacities of provincial and city/municipal nutrition cluster members on nutrition information management. The participants, which includes Nutrition Action Officers, District/City Nutrition Program Coordinators, Health Emergency Management staffs, Nutritionist-Dietitians and Nutrition staffs, were able to familiarize and use the six (6) different information management tools for nutrition planning, program implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of IM activities thru sample scenarios, demonstrations and hands-on exercises. On the last day, all the participants were asked to do a return demonstration of the 6 tools.
Information Management is the development and implementation of a systematic approach to identifying, collecting, storing, analyzing, presenting, and sharing data for specific management and decision-making support in humanitarian response.

SAN NARCISO, Quezon – NNC Calabarzon launches the Local Nutrition Early Warning System Food and Nutrition Security (LNEWS-FNS) in San Narcis, Quezon and conducted Consultative Workshop and Trainings for Household Data Collectors and Municipal Core Group. Honorable Mayor Florabelle Uy-Yap willingly accepted the program offered by NNC as she acknowledged their vulnerability to disaster and emergencies and their current nutrition situation. The Municipal Nutrition Committee is hopeful that LNEWS-FNS will help them in preparing for a more comprehensive and nutrition-responsive Municipal Nutrition Action Plan with programs and projects that will address the malnutrition problems in the municipality.
The LNEWS household data collectors will come from the 5 sentinel barangays namely Punta, Villa Reyes, Abuyon, San Juan and Binay. These barangays were selected during the consultative meeting based on the number of 0-59 months children, number of households, malnutrition prevalence, location and accessibility. A total of 15 participants were trained composed of Nurses, Midwives, Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs).
