Cavite NM 2020It was a digital milestone  for the  Cavite Provincial Nutrition Committee (PNC) and members  when it marked its  46th  Nutrition Month celebration amid the ongoing pandemic.  The  jam-packed celebration  commenced  with a virtual launching of the PNC facebook page as early as July 1 and  was highlighted by  exciting activities consisting of : the “Poster Making Contest” for elementary and high school students; the “Jingle Making Contest” for the BNS s in 16 municipalities of Cavite; the  “3-Day Webinar Series” for the BNSs on topics related to the 2020 Nutrition month theme; and; the posting of “Nutrition Month Promotional Materials”

The event’s theme, “Batang Pinoy… Sana Tall, Iwas Stunting… Sama All! Iwas All Din sa Covid-19,”  pins hopes on  sustaining strong  awareness on good nutrition among Filipinos. In particular, the “Webinar Series”  provided the PNCs stakeholders and its  290 BNSs valuable updates and vital  knowledge to mitigate stunting problems in this time of pandemic. The topics include :  Nutrition Month Talking Points (discussed by NO III Lourdes Bulante-Orongan of NNC Calabarzon); Significance of First 1000 Days, Nutrition Assessment;  and Management of Acute Malnutrition.

ONLINE NM FORUM 2020NNC Calabarzon’s  46th Digital Nutrition Month Forum  in July 14,  successfully  brought   together 109  nutrition stakeholders to tackle the reduction and prevention of  stunting in the region and nationwide  -- centering on the theme, “Batang Pinoy, Sana Tall… Iwas Stunting Sama All! Iwas All din sa COVID-19!”,

The virtual event was co-facilitated by the Communicators’ Network for Nutrition in Region IV-A (CNN-4A) Vice-President for Broadcast Media, Mr. Daniel Castro. Ms. Lourdes B. Orongan   gave  the invocation while  Ms. Carina Z. Santiago,  Calabarzon’s Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator welcomed all the participants. Ms. Santiago warmly encouraged everyone to  embrace the new normal  and  be  more  resourceful and creative in executing activities that will help disseminate the objectives of the nutrition month.

Santiago, ang kanilang Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator. Ito ay  matapos madeklara ang GCQ (General Community Quarantine) sa iba’t ibang mga rehiyon.

Ang mga pagbabago ang siyang tumutukoy sa sinasabing “new normal” sa work arrangement sa panahon ng pandemic. Kaya naman ang napagkasunduan ay ang kombinasyon ng “Work-from-Home,” “Compressed Work Week” at “Skeleton Work Force.”  Ipinahayag at ipina-unawa  din sa mga empleyado na dapat magkaroon ng physical distancing  upang maiwasan ang magkahawaan ang mga empleyado lalung lalo na ang mga mas nakakatanda at ang may mga sensitibong sakit. 

2020NM pic meppQuezon City  –The focus of this year’s  46th Nutrition Month  is to scale up nutrition action  by raising awareness  and commitment on how to  prevent and reduce stunting among Filipino families,  communities and  various stakeholders. The theme for the month’s celebration is, “Batang Pinoy, SANA TALL… Iwas stunting, SAMA ALL! Iwas ALL din sa COVID-19”.  

This year’s theme aims to stimulate national and local discourse, change mindsets and behaviors towards stunting and its causes,  and  provide evidence-based and multi-sectoral solutions for greater advancements in interventions.  Everyone is  encouraged to play their unique  role in the battle against stunting. It  can be prevented with proper knowledge and through combined efforts of the child’s mother and other family members, through the community, the government and other sectors.

Three youths from Cavite topped the RNC Calabarzon’s “Vegetable Gardening Challenge,”  giving hope of encouraging more young people to get involved in tending to plants and   alleviate the impact of the worsening of the nutrition status of the affected population in the country which has been brought about by pandemics, disasters and emergencies. The “Vegetable Gardening Challenge,” is also expected to eventually and continually address the threat of food security, ensure food availability and accessibility, and promote the consumption of safe and nutritious vegetables among households.

In an online interview, the winners warmly expressed their joy and gratitude to the challenge launched by the Regional Nutrition Cluster (RNC) Calabarzon because it gave them the opportunity to showcase their skills in home gardening. They also had the chance to influence the youth to be more productive and manage time wisely. They emphasized that through home gardening they were able to cope with the psychological distress brought about by the pandemic and contribute to the family’s well-being.

article sariayaSARIAYA, QUEZON: Fifty (50) Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) who  will be  taking  part in the documentation of news and events in the municipality,   recently completed  the news writing orientation during the 46th launching and celebration of  Nutrition Month. This year’s theme,  “Batang Pinoy, SANA TALL… Iwas Stunting, SAMA ALL! Iwas ALL din sa COVID-19!” expresses the aspirations of  the Filipino families  to  achieve  the fullest health potentials for their children.

Through the orientations, the BNSs will be capacitated to write substantive nutrition and nutrition-related stories and events. They are   encouraged to submit three (3) articles from July 15 to August 15 with incentives in the amount of Php150.00 cash to be given for every article.
