05 2021 Day 3 BNS Training Course

NNC MIMAROPA in collaboration with Palawan provincial trainers PNAO Ms. Rachel T. Paladan and DNPC Ms. Mila T. Veneranda, facilitated the last day of Training on Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Basic Course which was cooperated by 22 participants via Zoom Application on 26 May 2021.

05 2021 World Thyroid Day

 

World Thyroid Day is observed every 25th of May as established by the European Thyroid Association and the American Thyroid Association to raise awareness on the role of the thyroid hormone and its importance in the body.

05 2021 16 BNS TOT 1 of 3NNC MIMAROPA staff Nutrition Officer III Ms. Camille Chen, Nutrition Officer II Ms. Bianca Estrella, and Nutrition Officer I Ms. Nichole Loyola, together with Palawan provincial trainers Provincial Nutrition Action Officer Ms. Rachel Paladan and District Nutrition Program Coordinators Ms. Darelle Jaide Sanchez and Ms. Mila Veneranda served as facilitators for Day 1 of the Training on Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Basic Course to 15 participants from LGUs Palawan Province and Puerto Princesa City via Zoom Application on 24 May 2021.

The training content is packaged into five modules. Traditionally, it is a five-day session, however due to constraints brought by COVID-19, it was optimized into a three-day training.

The second day of the Training on Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Basic Course was led by NNC MIMAROPA staff Nutrition Officer III Ms. Camille Chen, Nutrition Officer II Ms. Bianca Estrella, and Nutrition Officer I Ms. Nichole Loyola. 26 attendees from LGUs Palawan Province and Puerto Princesa City participated via Zoom Application on 25 May 2021.

Advisory Office Closure 3

The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA Office will be temporarily closed from 24-28 May 2021 for disinfection of office premises and implementation of other preventive measures to manage and prevent risks against COVID-19. Physical office operations will resume on 31 May 2021, Monday. 

05 2021 17 International Thyroid Awareness Week 2021According to the 2018 National Nutrition Survey by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-FNRI), iodine deficiency is still existing among vulnerable groups including the elderly, lactating mothers, and pregnant women. Its effects and consequences especially on pregnant and lactating women, can have a direct impact especially to children during their first 1000 days of life, which spans from conception until 2 years of age.
