Calapan City – The Barangay Nutrition Scholar Federation - Calapan City Chapter in cooperation with the local government unit of Calapan City initiated the conduct of outreach program in the year 2018 to address concerns and deliver health and nutrition services to households with nutritionally-at-risk children. This year’s program with the theme “Bayanihan sa Napapanahong Sitwasyon” reached a total of 30 beneficiaries from Brgy. Bondoc, Calapan City in May 2021.
The initiative was participated by the Sangguniang Barangay of Brgy. Bondoc, Brgy. Captain Richard Abene, Brgy. Captain Anacleto Bolor Sr., Brgy. Captain Randy Ahorro, City Nutrition Action Officer (CNAO) Ms. Glenda Raquepo, City Nutrition Program Coordinator (CNPC) Ms. Ma. Imee Celestino, Nutrition Officer (NO) I Ms. Hazel Masongsong, City Dentist Dr. Ma. Simonette Dalisay, Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) Federation – Calapan City Chapter led by BNS President Ms. April Marasigan, barangay health workers (BHWs), private individuals and all volunteers who extended assistance in making the scheme possible and fruitful.

Sa nararanasan nating pandemya, nagkaroon ang mga tao ng isipin at alinlangan kung paano nila itatawid ang kanilang pamilya sa pang araw-araw na pangangailangan lalo na ang pagkain dahil na rin sa kadahilanan na maraming Pilipino ang nawalan ng hanap buhay. Ngunit sa kabila ng hirap at kawalan ng trabaho, hindi nawalan ng pag-asa ang mga Pilipino. Sa pagtutulungan, ang Community Pantry ay nabuo, ito ay para sa mga kapos at nangangailangan, ito ay para rin sa mga gusto at may kakayahang tumulong. Ito ang nagbigay ng katagang “Mabigay ayon sa Kakayahan, Kumuha batay sa Pangangailangan”. Ito ay nagsimula lamang sa Maginhawa, Quezon City at ngayo’y nagsulputan na sa iba’t-ibang lugar sa Pilipinas at hindi na lang dito sa Pilipinas ngunit nahawaan na rin natin ang ibang bansa katulad ng bansang Laos.

National Nutrition Council – MIMAROPA supports the National Safe Kids Week this third week of June as declared by Proclamation No. 1307 series of 2007.
Traumatic injury is one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in Filipino children thus the proclamation was created for the prevention of this unnecessary disability and deaths of Filipino children due to traumatic injuries including ones that result from road crashes.

The administration of community quarantine in the Philippines made extensive strike to various living aspects – limited access to health and nutrition services and deficient resources for nutrition.
To address the health and nutrition concerns of MIMAROPAns, the local nutrition committees in the region intrinsically administered the following activities: initiated community pantries in diverse barangays to aid food insecurity, conducted monitoring visit to community gardens and 4Ps garden, managed meetings to provide feedback on barangay nutrition committee (BNC) monitoring results and brainstorm on nutrition activities for CY 2021, and directed "Ugnayan Barangay 2021" which targets to provide services to the people of geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) for free.

Did you know that based from annual statistics of the World Health Organization, there are five (5) million deaths from using tobacco and tobacco-related disease alone? With the consequences of smoking, the Department of Health is firm on its campaign -- cigarette smoking has no health benefits! To further strengthen the advocacy and public awareness on the observance of World No Tobacco Day, the celebration of National No-Smoking for the month of June in the Philippines was ushered in.
