Did you know that according to National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI), End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) is the 7th leading cause of mortality among Filipinos? Every hour, one Filipino is affected with chronic renal failure.
The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA Region unites with the nation as we commemorate the month of June as National Kidney Month with 2021 theme “Matatag na Bato sa Kapanahunang Ito” pursuant to Presidential Decree (PD) No. 184, s. of 1993. Additionally, NKTI was appointed as the lead agency of its implementation.

National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA supports the National Dengue Awareness month this June by the virtue of Proclamation No. 1204 on 21 April 1998.
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease caused by four types of viruses (DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3, DENV-4) belonging to the Flaviviridae family that has rapidly spread in recent years. The virus is transmitted by day biting Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus female mosquitoes which thrive in areas with stagnant water, including puddles, water tanks, containers, and old tires.
Dengue has been considered by the Department of Health as an all-year round disease which rises in incidence during the rainy season due to the presence of more breeding places for mosquitoes.

National Nutrition Council – MIMAROPA held a virtual media assembly for Palawan, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro Nutrition Communicators (PROMO Nutri Com) on 18 June 2021 attended by nine (9) officers and members.
The virtual media assembly is part of the NNC-MIMAROPA’s Nutrition Month activities which aims to provide the local media group with information relevant to the 2021 Nutrition Month, and to arrange a media plan for improved information reach.

Advancement for Rural Kids (ARK) sought assistance from the National Nutrition Council through the Office of the Cabinet Secretary for the assessment of health and nutrition data in Busuanga, Palawan and determine the impact of its “Feed Back” program in the said local government unit.
ARK is an international social impact organization working in rural communities to solve hunger and food insecurity. One of its flagship program, Feed Back, secures food for the family of farmers and fisherfolks whom were greatly affected by the pandemic.

NNC MIMAROPA conducted a 3-Day Annual Investment Program (AIP) Online Workshop for the municipalities of Marinduque province through Zoom Application. The workshop commenced on 15 June, with the opening program followed by workshop proper on 16 June. The activity culminated with presentation of accomplished AIP of every municipality and closing program.
The online workshop aims to provide technical assistance in integrating nutrition-related programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) to the Annual Investment Program in the LGUs of the province. This workshop also intends LGUs to formulate the 2022 AIP with a robust and adequate nutrition budgets in the four major nutrition PPA items including the first 1000 days to reduce and prevent stunting and safeguard nutrition in the post-pandemic period.

The National Nutrition Council MIMAROPA Region joins in the commemoration of the 123rd anniversary of Department of Health (DOH), the principal health agency of the Philippines and the chair of the National Nutrition Council (NNC) Governing Board.
The devotion of this established agency has showcased the extensive commitments in developing national plans, technical standards and guidelines to ensure access of all Filipinos in fundamental public health services through delivery of standard health care and related goods and services.
