Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang, NNC’s Executive Director, extended her warmest congratulations to all the awardees of the 4^th Quarter 2020 NNC Webby Award, including NNC Calabarzon who was awarded the Winner for the “Most Syndicated Webpage and Social Media Account.” The awarding ceremony was held during the 1^st Management Conference, series 2021 last March 17, 2021.

NNC Calabarzon also garnered the awards for two other categories: ”Most Visited Webpage (with a total of 16,217 “unique visitors”) ; and 1^st runner-up for the “Highest Social Media Reach” (summing up 497,970 viewers).

The “Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) Pro Virtual Orientation” for Cavite Province was finally completed last March 15. It was the third of the series this month, following the previous MELLPI Pro orientations in Laguna and Batangas Province.

The virtual orientation was successfully conducted through the dynamic leadership of RNPC Carina Santiago, her NNC Calabarzon staff, in partnership with the Provincial Nutrition Action Office (PNAO) of Cavite Province.

This year and month marks the first virtual meeting of the District/City/Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator’s Association of the Philippines (D/C/MNPCAP) CaLaBaRZon, Inc., thru the leadership of Ms. Carina Z. Santiago, RNPC, and in collaboration with Ms. Marietta Dogelio, D/CNPC President of Tagaytay City,

A total of 47 D/C/MNPCs from 12 cities, 4 provinces and 6 municipalities all over Calabarzon participated in the event. They are the cities of Bacoor, Tagaytay, Dasmariñas, Imus, Calamba, San Pablo, San Pedro, Santa Rosa, Biñan, Batangas, Cabuyao and Antipolo, the provinces of Cavite, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon, and the municipalities of Alfonso, Tanza, Cuenca, Balayan, Jomalig, Pililla and Rodriguez.

The Provinces of Cavite, Laguna and Rizal are now under “NCR Plus Bubble” and “Strict General Community Quarantine” as additional measures to address the rising cases of Covid-19 in the country. This is line with Resolution No. 104, issued by the IATF which includes additional restrictions and observance of stricter health protocols, from March 22 to April 4 this year, in areas where there is a surge of cases of the viral disease.

NNC Calabarzon, however, will ensure food security in the provinces in the region under the NCR Plus Bubble. The Nutrition Action Officers (NAO) of the provinces will be the strong force behind the remedial steps to be taken.

In the Alert Level 2 Advisory recently released by NNC CaLaBaRZon and signed by Ms. Carina Santiago, RNPC, the Regional Nutrition Clusters and Local Nutrition Clusters are requested to be on constant alert for any volcanic activity or possible danger of eruption in the locality.

The advisory also calls for the LGUs in the perimeter area to be alert, prepared and vigilant. It necessitates contingency measures to ensure all members of the community will have access to food in the event of the eruption.

Two batches of the online “MELLPI Pro Orientation” were conducted consecutively in March 11 and 12 this year in the Provinces of Batangas and Laguna.

Participating in the orientation were 13 LGUs of Laguna Province and 27 LGUs of Batangas -- in collaboration with the Provincial Health and Nutrition Office of Laguna and Batangas Province.
