Executive Order (EO) No. 356, series 2021 ”An Order Establishing the Nutrition Learning Hub (NLH) in the City of Tagaytay” was signed last February 9 by Tagaytay Mayor, Hon. Agnes Tolentino. The EO was signed, following the NLH preparations and coordination meeting conducted by NNC Calabarzon NPC, Carina Santiago and IMO, Edward Paglinawan,- with Tagaytay City CNAO Engr. Emilma Pello, CNPCs Marietta Dogelio, and Marilyn Seña.
The NLH, is expected to increase the number of LGUs that implement quality nutrition programs and interventions. It will also capacitate the LGUs in implementing and sustaining nutrition programs through exchange of knowledge and experiences with other LGUs.

Twenty mothers from the community of indigenous peoples (IP) in Barangay Del Rosario, Buenavista, Quezon, were among the priority beneficiaries of the two batches of the recent “Idol Ko si Nanay” Learning Sessions under the Early Childhood Care and Development in the First 1000 Days (ECCD F1K) Program.
A number of encouraging feedback were shared by the participants despite challenges encountered. Ms. Rosalie Pañoso, 32, who attended the first batch, initially experienced hardship due to the pandemic and the long travel and distance to the activity halls. However, she was eventually motivated to attend the classes because she enjoyed the camaraderie with her colleagues. She said that now that she is pregnant, she is more equipped and ensured that the baby in her belly will be safe, healthy and will grow well.

Sa pagdiriwang ng “National Awareness Week for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation,” ang NNC Calabarzon ay lumahok bilang isa sa mga kabilang ng Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC) sa kick-off activity ng Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) noong Pebrero 8.
Ang activity ay isang virtual activity na kung saan may programang nakalaan upang alalahanin at isulong ang temang: “We Must Protect Boys Just as We Protect Girls.”

QUEZON CITY, Pebrero 11 – Ang NNC Calabarzon ay kasalukuyang namamahagi ng mga “Stunting Flyers” sa mga nutrition workers sa probinsiya, siyudad, at barangay sa buong CaLaBarzon. Layunin ng pamamahagi ng flyers ang mapadali at mapabilis ang pagpapalaganap at paghahatid ng mga importanteng impormasyon upang maiwasan ang “stunting” o “pagkabansot” ng mga bata.
Ilan sa mga impormasyong nakahayag sa flyers ay ang kahulugan ng stunting, epekto ng stunting, paraan para makaiwas sa stunting, at ang pamantayan na ginagamit sa sukatan ng tangkad para sa edad 0-24 buwan taong gulang na bata.

Sa unang bahagi ng taon, patuloy na isinasagawa ng mga Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) ng Region IV-A ang Operation Timbang Plus (OPT Plus) na layon ang matukoy ang kalagayan ng malnutrisyon ng mga batang 0-59 buwan.
Patuloy din na isinasagawa ng mga BNS ang ibang programang pang-nutrisyon tulad ng pamamahagi ng Vitamin A at pagbibigay ng kauukulang aksyon sa mga batang kulang sa nutrisyon.

The municipality of Sariaya, Quezon recently conducted capacity building activities for their 31 Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNSs) to further improve the reporting and monitoring of the F1K programs in their barangays.
The activities include the training on “Early Childhood Care and Development in the First 1000 Days Online Reporting System (ECCD F1K RS).” The training is a tracking tool to process real-time accomplishments on the ECCD F1K Program.
